[Dx4win] It happens to me too

Today my ham PC died.  It had been sick for a while, SATA controller
errors on the motherboard.  It was limping along, but tonight when I
tried to restart it, it couldn't find any boot devices.  I'm having a
replacement motherboard shipped from Hong Kong, I hope it arrives well
before CQ WPX Phone.

But I have a real point.....

I pressed an old XP box into temporary service.  It was only up to
Service Pack 2.  I was able to reproduce the problem with the updater
always asking to update, even though it's the current version.  When
Service Pack 3 and all subsequent Microsoft updates finish installing,
I'll see if the problem is still there.  If it is, then I can debug
it.  If installing all the Microsoft updates makes the problem go
away, then the people who are having problems may not have all those
updates installed.  Time will tell....
