Well,
All I can say is that I do not have the issue with my station. I am presently using a Flex 3000 as Radio #1 and a Kenwood TS2000 as Radio #2.Over the years, I have sucessfuly used Kenwood TS570, TS440, TS870 as well. I suggest that you find someone with simaler equipment and work with your settings until you solve the issue.
I'm not a programmer, only a user, but the theory you quote does not sound plausible to me.
If you have one of the radios I have, I'd be pleased to send you a list of my settings so that we can work through them and get you working.
It can be done.
Best regards, Eric

Subject: [Dx4win] Timeout issue
Just to be clear, the timeout issue that many of us have been bemoaning
relates to the CAT connection between computer and radio.so that if you
click on a spot, the radio will jump to the spotted station's frequency and
mode. It's a long-standing issue for many users, one that many users have
noted for years on this reflector, with no resolution in sight. A couple of
fellow users emailed me their theory: DX4WIN (may?) require frequent
confirmation of frequency and mode, rather than just follow commands to
change frequency and mode. I don't know, but I do hope that Paul addresses
this in a future major update. As I said earlier, DX4WIN's inability to hold
the connection stands in stark contrast to the N1MM logger, HRD, and other
programs that provide CAT control.
