Hi Mel, and Group,
Well I spent a little tine this morning playing with the Windows 8
VmWare Player and I can say DX4W will work Just fine with the MicroKeyer
2 doing the interfacing. I can send CW, FSK RTTY, and read the radio and
have it QSY by packet spots all in the Windows 8 using Vmware player on
top of Windows 7 64bit. I have not done this with Linux lately but I'm
reasonably sure it will work there also.
It just seems like a waste of resources to use Linux as the Host and
then load up windows as a guest to run DX4W since you would have Windows
anyway. I have dual booted in Linux when I want Linux and then go to
Windows 7 when I want to use my Ham software. Lately to play with Linux
I've been doing it in VMware and have been happy that way for the
limited things I do in Linux.
Too bad DX4W is not available with a linux build. <G> Between DX4W and
N1MM, those are the only things stopping me from going over to Linux
fully. I will say Windows 7 64bit is becoming very stable now works
well for me.
