[Dx4win] PSK 31

I have an Elecraft K3 Transceiver, Elecraft P3 Panadapter.  I am trying to use my HP Notebook with Dx4WIN logging program to run PSK 31.  My biggest problem is, I don’t understand the Owner’s Manual, on how to hook up the Notebook to the K3, and P3.  I receive some text on my Notebook using the DX4WIN program, but also a lot of garble.  I cannot get the DX4WIN to key up the K3 transmitter.  Is there anyone who has a K3, and does PSK 31, can help me?
