Hi Folks,
In DX4WIN.CTY #116 I made this change:
http://www.country-files.com/dx4win/release.shtml#116
"KG1, KG6, KJ6, KM6, KS6, KV4 and KW6 starting 24 March 1978 (not 1
January 1979) are United States, K. (change)"
These were changed so as not to overlap the new systematic callsign
allocation system that went into effect on 24 March 1978:
http://www.w5yi.org/page.php?id=281
The collateral damage from this change is that some people's QSOs may
have fallen through the cracks, prefix-wise. For example, tonight I
discovered that WA4CGM/KV4 who I worked on 10 July 1978 was coming up
as USA instead of US Virgin Islands, KP2.
So I'm asking yet another favor. Please check your logbooks for
stations operating from USVI using a KV4 prefix. In your preferences,
set callsign searching to "Substring" and using F8, search for KV4.
I'm only concerned with 2x2 calls beginning with KV4 (like KV4AA) and
stations operating portable from KV4 (like WA4CGM above). The latest
QSO one I've ever found is from 1986 (!) so there's no need to search
later.
Let me know if you find any assigned to USA that you think should be
assigned to USVI, especially if you have a QSL card.
If you want to check the other prefixes above, more power to you, but
right now, KV4 seems to be the problem. KX6 callsigns (2x2 or
portable) may have the same problem.
Thanks & 73 - Jim AD1C
p.s. new country file in a day or two with fixes for VP2 calls that I
broke in the last release. I'm still waiting for a couple pieces of
information.
