John, I have never seen this.  I use an ICOM radio (IC-7600 with split
frequency support in DX4WIN 8.05).

If I spot a station, and the radio is in SPLIT mode, both the
Frequency and QSX Frequency fields in the "Announce DX" window will be
filled in, and there will be nothing in the comment field (unless I
type something there)..  When the spot appears on the cluster, "QSX
<QSX Frequency>" will be in the comment field of the spot.  There does
not appear to be any duplication of data.

1.  When I log a split-frequency QSO, I get something like:

        Rx=24,922.1kHz

    in my "Notes for this QSO field" (QSO | Contest Mode).  I don't
believe this contributes to the spot that goes out, it's what's read
from the radio that counts.

2.  I have not tested re-spotting a station that was grabbed from a
packet spot where the QSX frequency was in comment field of the
grabbed spot.  I still don't think this will cause the problem.
