[Dx4win] DX4WIN 6.04 and Windows 7?

I am upgrading my PC from a 6 year old XP system to a new 64 bit Windows 7
Professional system. I am currently using DX4WIN 6.04 and can't seem to get
it running on the Windows 7 box. I followed the standard Vista install
directions: Right Click to run the install .EXE as administrator and put it
in the root directory. However, when I run the program, again as
administrator, I get the "missing vichw11.sys in
C:\Windows\System32\drivers". I put the .sys file there and it still does
not work and I can't get past this point. So, any ideas out there?
* How have others gotten past the "missing vichw11.sys" problem? (My new PC
does not have a serial port -- is this part of the problem?)
* If I run the new PC in "XP Compatibility Mode" would this work? Has anyone
tried this?
* If I upgrade to Version 8 -- can I get that working? Anyone have Version 8
running on a 64 bit system?
Thanks for the replies.
