Mark,

You're not doing anything wrong. The DXCC SUMMARY report ignores an active 
filter, so the summary you see is for your entire log.

Jim (AD1C) has written a nice utility for calculating your Marathon score 
and creating the Marathon submission. You can find the program and 
instructions here:

Alternately, you could:
  1. Set the DX4Win filter for the year 2008
  2. F>ile S>ave as... the filtered DX4Win log to a new log file 
(WD4ELG2008)
  3. F>ile O>pen the new 2008 log (WD4ELG2008)
  4. Select R>eports DXCC SUMMARY
[When you're done, don't forget to go back to F>ile O>pen your permanent log
