Hello Hugh
1) the simplest solution is to buy a usb to serial adapter and make a
homemade interface like manual says to key cw. The problem is that cw maybe
is not so good especially when the prossesor load is too high.
2) one better is to buy a pci card to put inside your cimputer and use the
same hoemade interface. No problems with this solution
3) the thrid one is to buy a k1el keyer like this one
http://k1el.tripod.com/WKUSB.html This is a usb device that works perfect
and is supported from dx4win, writelog, n1mm, etc. and you can get it with
your laptop also. The disadantage that it doesn't support fsk (rtty) if you
need it.
4) Fourth and the best (the more expencive also) is to buy a device like
Microham mikrokeyer II. It creates virtual com ports, has integrated
soundcard, includes a k1el winkeyer, etc. It does it all and save your
settings also.

your pocket your decision
73 and season greetings
