Jim,  your last paragraph has been true but its not working these days on my 
V7 these days....  Thats right, the VE7CC pregram can auto connect....

Paul tried to do something shortly before 8.01 was released, but ran
into a programming issue he could not solve.

If you use the VE7CC user program between DX4WIN and your cluster
node, then you don't even have to type in the callsign when connecting
DX4WIN to the cluster.  Plus the VE7CC program will do auto-reconnect
if the connection is lost.
