[Dx4win] Missing EXT DATA Window

I have been using DX4WIN for years, but I have encountered a weird mystery.

I just loaded DX4WIN onto my laptop using the same settings, etc. as on 
my desktop.  I have loaded the QRZ call book onto my HD root directory 
and properly entered the path into the EXT DATA preferences menu.  
However, when I hit F3 with a call and a cursor in the QSO window, the 
EXT DATA window does not come up.  I believe it's been called and may be 
"minimized out of sight" because the cursor does disappear from the QSO 
window and the QSO window becomes inactive.

Can anyone enlighten me on what I'm missing here.
