[Dx4win] CW Keying & Radio Interface

I have a laptop connected to a Ten-Tec Omni Vi Plus through a serial cable.  Can I also key my radio through the same serial port.  I noted in the Ten-Tec manual that radio control is done through serial port pins 2 and 3 plus the ground on pin 7.  The serial port CW keying interface using a resistor and a 2N2222 only connects to pin 20 (DTR) and pin 7, the ground.  Has anybody tried this?
