Do you mean in the Country (DXCC) window (Windows -> Country)?  When 
you work someone, the status changes from "." to "W".  When you send 
a card, the status changes from "W" to "M".  This is normal program operation.

Or do you mean another field somewhere?

It's possible you did something by accident in the Labels menu when 
you were trying to export for LoTW that changed things on you.
