[Dx4win] Computer advice ??

Greetings Steve, been a while. I am still running 5.03 and my old Win98 266 hz puter with Radio on com2, the larger plug comport( I reversed them here cuz I had the cables already made up from earlier)
Running my MFJ TNC for RTTY on com 1-smaller comport connector. 
Using TCP/IP for cluster communications on the internet.
Everything working great but as you cans see my stuff is a little ancient and can't use many programs anymore. 
Thionking of getting some sort of whiz bang puter and my main concern is having to use some adapters for the com ports????
Is this a pretty straight forward operation anymore? Can a computer dummy do it??
It's probably about time I caught up on the Dx4win newest version also??
Appreciate any help.
