Yes, Jim, that is EXACTLY what I wanted to do.
Thanks so much for the procedure.
While following your instructions it became apparent that the ability
to perform the task I asked about was in the program's capabilities
all the time. I just didn't have the insight to figure it out on my
own. DX4WIN is indeed a powerful program and I am constantly learning
something new all the time. I do apologize that I need some
hand-holding from time to time to figure out just how to do something
that I can't figure out on my own and can't seem to be able to find
the information in the manual, such as clicking on the AUTOMATIC
UPDATE option in the F3 window when updating.
Thanks again for all the help and support. I am amazed that not only
were you able to answer my problem but also revised your DX4WIN web
pages to show others how to do this.
For those not following the question it went like this. I will use
5H9KR as an example:
You log a new DX Contact, such as 5H9KR. While logging this contact
DX4WIN shows VU2RKS in the QSL MGR slot. However, my F3 window (QSL
data from QRZ.COM and GOLIST) shows KF9TC as the QSL Mgr. So I
replace VU2RKS with KF9TC in the logging window and using CTL-E add
KF9TC's address to enable printing an address label. But the next
time you would update the COUNTRY file all the info concerning KF9TC
would be written over and the incorrect VU2RKS would again appear as
QSL MGR so when you went to do a follow up on how long you have been
waiting for the card it would show you sent it to VU2RKS and not KF9TC
as you did. This happened to me on over a 100 entries when I went to
7.0. Luckily ver 6.04 still had all the correct info so I was able to
retrieve the QSL MGR data and addresses from 6.04 and merge them with
7.0. This interchanging of QSL Mgr info has been going on forever but
I did not realize it until doing some follow-ups on cards I have been
waiting to receive back for quite awhile.
