Paul,

Press the F1 key when the label editor is open; all the terms are
defined in the on-line help.

Keep in mind that when you specify the label layout, the actual printer
you use for printing plays a role too. Many printers cannot print all the way
to the left on a page and start printing lower on the page (the paper margins).
These margins are different for different printer models. When you use 
the preview for a layout you should get a good idea what the final print will
look like without wasting paper.
