[Dx4win] Deleting Error messages in QSO notes?

John,
You may not want to use a cvs file from Excel as an import file. I converted
a Macintosh database file to cvs through Excel and Excel stripped the
leading zeros from UTC times. I never figured out how to set the cell number
format to accept leading zeros in Excel. I was using the HHMM format, and
DX4WIN 6.02 times with the leading zeros stripped from the import file
appeared as 00:00 or ??:??. Perhaps Excel would not strip the zeros from the
HH:MM format; I didn't try it. The only way I could produce a file that
would import properly was to export the database file as comma delineated
text with return (enter on the PC) as the end of line character, open and
convert the file in Word, and save as a text file in ASCII format. The
resulting file imported into 6.02 with leading zeros intact.

Steve,
Ok. I give up. How do you export to Excel and then import again. I know
that you can write to a .csv file by right clicking on the log window and
that can be imported by Excel, but I don't see a way to import from Excel.

Hi John,
There is a way around it, another user of this forum recommended for me as I
have over 200,000 records and did not fancy the prospect of removing each of
the errors individually.
You can output the file into excel and this way it is easier to clear the
field - easy if there is no other information you wish to keep in that field
(as Guy has previously mentioned).
It would of course be nice to have a few lines of extra code just to compare
the first word in this field ie if it sees the word "Error" as the first
word prompt to delete the field. Maybe for the next version if there is
enough call for it ;-)
Hope this helps,
