John,
Thanks for defining the origin of the expression "NS46" - this expression
does not appear anywhere in the many QSOs I have had with Tom (GM4DFM). So,
I suspect that this chunk of data originated from the ARRL's match/merge of
my filing with GM4FDM's data.
Paul and I have taken some of the discussion of the LoTW results file
off-line, as we attempt to solve the re-import problem --- without
bothering the DX4WIN list with lots of email exchanges. What I am
discovering is that incorrect data, inserted by the _other_ stations at the
time of their registration/filing, is reflected back to their counterparts
when confirming a QSL. Specifically - the source of the errors I reported is
not my log and my ADIF file being uploaded, but incorrect data in the other
operators' self-definition that comes back to me in the ARRL ADIF results
download.
FOR EXAMPLE: In my QSL confirmations with W/K stations, I am getting some
records back with the COUNTY mis-spelled. But, looking in my log and the
ADIF upload file I sent to the ARRL, their county from me was spelled
correctly. Soooooo... where does the mis-spelling originate? Either from the
other ham, who mis-spelled his county when registering, or from an ARRL
look-up table with a mis-spelling in it. {I have some email into the ARRL...
still working these errors through discovery }
For these reasons (as many others have already suggested) DX4WIN users must
be careful not to import this data into their primary station log. Instead,
create a new log file (I named mine "K8UT-lotw") and import the ARRL results
into that file. As John stated in his reply - you can then examine and
correct the errors in the file at your leisure, and avoid the risk of
corrupting your own log records.
