Hi all,
Had a hard drive crash and do an entire rebuild last night.
(Just what I always wanted to do on a Sat Night!!!)

Had to reload version 5.03 and need some help in getting
the radio up and running as its been a while since I've done
any config. (Good thing I saved my log 20K+ Q's onto zip
drive, should have saved the entire folder)

Anyway, I'm running an Icom 746 at 4800, 8 data, 1 stop bit.
I/F is Icom CT-17 CIV. Radio address is 56 hex.

The following values are from my last attempt.

I go into the File/Preferences and set everything up for
the radio, then save & exit.

Then if I go into File/Databases/radio and set everything up
and config it to read VFO A, I get garbage for a freq read back.

Q-1. What should I run for handshake, RTS or DTR or neither?

I have the values menu setup as: Format-Hex, Byte order-Normal
Loc offset-one based, Cmd Preamble FEFE56E0-length=4.

Cmds/Fields menu as: CMD-Read VFO A, Cmd str 03 FD, Src/Target
Loc-VFO A&B, Bytes read-6, Field name-Current VFO, Assoc cmd -
Read VFO A, Format-BCD, Position-1, Length 5.

I've tried several combos of -all of the above-, but still haven't
hit the magic config.

Here is what I get when doing a test read:
------------------------------
Cmd: Read VFO A
Send:
  FE FE 56 E0 03 FD
Echo:
  FE FE 56 E0 03 FD
Received:
  FE FE E0 56 03 30
Integer Read: Current VFO; V=-614463581
Last error = 0
--------------------------------
Notice the garbage VFO value, I was trying to read 14,030.15
from VFO A. (VFO B is setup for 14,011.50)

Occasionally, when I go back to look at the Preferences for the
radio, the Radio Type changes to NONE, but the radio addr (56h)
and data rate (4800) stays the same....

I know it may be very simple, but sitting here most of last night
and today rebuilding this hog has given me temporary
"Brain Frazzle".

ANY AND ALL HELP will be greatly appreciated

Thanks and 73,
John K1RC
