The basic answer is no. The two longest-standing and most widely used
contest programs, CT and TR, are both DOS programs that rely on direct
access to the hardware for many things, including CW keying and rig
control. For that reason they need real DOS to work, not an emulator like
XP. Writelog is an excellent Windows logging program -- Writelog in
particular. N1MM has written a freeware Windows logging program -- see
http://pages.cthome.net/n1mm/.
There is a reflector, [email protected], where this subject has been
discussed for a long time. To access the archive, go to www.contesting.com
and look in the left margin for a field called "list search." Enter the
words XP and CT and ct-user, press [Enter] and the archive will show you
many messages on this subject.
The most elegant solution (from that reflector) is to create a small DOS
partition with Partition Magic and then load it with DOS 6.22 or 7.0 and CT
or TR.
