Please forgive me, but I need to get a couple of things off my chest...
1) When will people learn that a one or two line comment does not need to
include 200 lines of quoted, quoted quoted, quoted quoted quoted, etc., prior
comments?? Geez!
2) "DX4WIN is losing ground to other programs..." I don't think so! DX4WIN has
been, and still is, among the best logging programs around. The author has
given the best and most responsive support of any competing program, for a very
long time.
Can any program satisfy every user? No. And I hope this one never tries. The
additional capabilities that Steve has added over the years are very nice, but
trying to make the program perform all things for all users would introduce a
level of complexity that would certainly tempt disaster (think about the various
"do-everything" iterations of "Windows")
I think the majority of users want DX4WIN to remain the best LOGGING PROGRAM
around. Those whose main interests include specialized modes or pursuits should
not expect the program to replace or equal dedicated programs (like MixW or
Stream or Writelog or...)
We shouldn't stop asking for improvements as they occur to us...that's the way
the best remains the best. And no one is as open to suggestions as the author
of DX4WIN. I do hope, though, that he will continue to use his good judgment in
keeping DX4WIN on track and avoid the temptation to dilute it with "do
everything" features, and that we users continue to express our appreciation for
his great program.
