Ken,

You can try searching for any .~xl files. This would be a previous
version that may allow you to recover most of your log. You can also search
for DX4WIN.DXB which is an intermediate file that dx4win uses. It is
normally in the C:\Program Files\dx4w503 directory. The previous version
is DX4WIN.~XB. If you find either one of these rename it to anything.dxl
and open it. It might contain most of your log.

Good luck recovering your log. Please start doing frequent backups to
a floppy disk. Here's the script I use:

cd C:\Progra~1\dx4w503\save
pkzip C:\Progra~1\dx4w503\BACKUP\dxbakup.zip -u *.* -x*.~* -xdx4win.awd
copy C:\Progra~1\dx4w503\BACKUP\dxbakup.zip a:
dir a:

I have this in a file called dxbakup.bat. I place a shortcut to this file
on my desktop, right next to the dx4win shortcut icon. Basically it
updates a file called dxbakup.zip with all the files in the save
directory except all the tilde files and the dx4win.awd file (since I
don't make any changes to this file I don't need to back it up). The
zip file is written to the hard drive then copied to the a: drive. This
gives me belt and suspenders, so to speak. This script assumes the
dxbakup.zip file already exists so you'll have to use pkzip to create
the file the first time. I think its the -a command line option without
looking it up. This is just one way of doing your backup. I'm sure there
are more sophisticated methods such as adding dxbakup.bat to the 
Windows Task Scheduler.
