[Dx4win] Multiple Logbooks. Multiple Computers.

Just purchased DX4WIN. Working on initial logbook setup. Have 7 years of
data to enter (manual entry unfortunately, former LOGPlus files are
corrupted, apparently beyond repair) covering three different QTHs. We are
about to relocate back to the first of those former QTHs (KL7). Two
questions:

First question is whether to use a single date-segmented log (the
Filter|Selection function) or multiple logs. Issue is convenience in
tracking QSLs for awards. Interested in experiences of users of either
method. If a date-segmented log is preferred then comments on how to deal
with the multi-year break in KL7 residency would be very helpful.
Specifically, I would need to exclude date periods 2 and 3 so that only date
periods 1 and 4 are accessed for purposes of KL7 submissions. If the
multiple log method is preferred then comments on how to deal with tracking
awards that are not QTH-restricted would be helpful.

The second question relates to the manual data entry described above. I plan
to have a duplicate copy of DX4WIN on my laptop so I can do the data entry
while traveling (I believe this is permitted under the license terms but
please correct me if I'm wrong) then merge that data to my "primary" logbook
files on the desktop using the File|Import/Export:Merge function. Comments
regarding best practices would be appreciated. For example, how to minimize
potential lost detail in the merge process?

Thanks.
