And bear in mind that you can buy replacement batteries for almost any
UPS. Over the last 8 or 9 years, I've owned about 25 UPSes, all from
APC. They worked great. Are they better than others? Who knows...
they kept lots of my servers running through power outages, and kept
my networks alive. I can buy replacement batteries at reasonable cost,
and it's easy to swap them. Many UPSes do self-tests of the batteries
and warn you if they need replacing. Better to find out BEFORE you
really need it, HI! So, if you get a used UPS, you can almost certainly
replace the batteries without much problem at all. It's a cheap investment
to keep your data protected.
Now that I've sold my internet business, I still use UPSes for every
piece of computing equipment in the house. Computers, monitors,
hubs, routers, etc.
A working UPS is WELL worth the cost.
