[Dx4win] Sound card error

Yes, I have the same thing here. It just means that one of your soundcards
is a high-end pro card that will play 16bit 44.1, 48k files and maybe 32k.
Being a card designed for  pro-audio it won't handle lower resolution files,
like the 8000hz 16bit mono it's complaining about. That low resolution audio
is just fine for DX4WIN purposes. The solution that worked for me is to have
a cheap Soundblaster Live Card (just a few bucks bought used) just for
hamming, that will handel the low res audio files. Then I use my high end
card for pro-audio applications. So DX4WIN isn't doing anything wrong, it's
that you're asking a vvery good soundcard to play low res audio that it's
not designed to handel. If it worked for you before, it means one of your
cards can play low res audio files but for whatever reason DX4WIN is trying
to use the high end audio card now.  I had the same thing here. Hope this

Running DX4WIN 5.03 on Win98/SE, with Echo Gina sound card.  There are
two sound cards in the system, the other being an Ensoniq.  Today I
opened the PSK31 window in DX4WIN for the first time, and got an error
that states: "Error starting the soundcard.  Card doesn't support 16bit,
8000Hz, mono format."  I get the DX spot announcements OK from DX4WIN
using the Echo sound card.  Anyone know what's going on?  I've not found
anyplace where you can specify which sound card the program is to use -
did I miss something?
