I would try downloading the program into a directory different from the
install directory. The download is about 2.5 megs and it creates two files
when unzipped that have to be in the same directory (they are intended to be
put on two floppies where needed). Then run the dx4win.exe file and allow
it to install in the recommended directory.
You need to give a little more information as there are thousands of new
installs that work correctly, if that is what you did. The basic things
that you need to do when changing computers is to write down each and every
com port with irq, baud rate, and protocol as wellas any parallel port used
with what is was hooked to so you can get the new one to the same condition.
It is normally better if you turn off all radio control, tnc inputs and set
all of the controls to off in preferences, then export the dx4win.ini file.
With the new configuration you input the .ini file and make the correct
preferences for radio control, tnc, cw keying, etc. Did you do a clean new
install of an operating system on the new computer? Had it ever had dx4win
installed on it before?

Subject: [Dx4win] New Install Won't Open
I just replaced the QSLing computer with a newer one,
installed DX4WIN 5.03 from a fresh download. It
won't open.
I get a splash of the DX4WIN logo and a quick look
at the logging page and then the program just goes
away.
Any suggestions? Many thanks,
Bill K6KM
