All envelopes and packages are being sent back with the annotation 'Return to sender. Suspension of transport by airlines'. In addition, severe government restrictions on COVID-19 limit access to many services and introduce restrictions on the movement of citizens. Card shipping will resume as soon as the situation is normal. VP8PJ QSL/LoTW STATUS. QSL Manager Tim, M0URX, reports the following on March 29th: - We are approaching 6,000 requests for QSL cards, Direct and Bureau. - 731 "Not in Log" requests have been investigated and answered, the few that remain will be completed this week. For a DX-pedition with 83,500+ QSOs and 20,500 unique callsigns in the log this is a very small number, it indicates the DX-pedition team's attention to logging accuracy. - LoTW processing is up-to-date. All donor LoTW records were uploaded. Current OQRS LoTW uploads are processed daily. - The VP8PJ QSL cards are being designed by the team. Due to the Covid-19 situation I have been asked to report to work 7 days per week, for a 10 hour shift. I will continue to process QSL confirmations and research issues as time allows, please be patient. For those who have not yet reported a "Not in Log" problem, please use the form on OQRS QSO entry page. Responding to individual e-mails is time consuming and non productive. Please do not send screen-shots unless requested, and never send your log files, spreadsheets or screen-shots of your log, they are of no use to researching a problem.... The following was posted on March 31st, on the NZART (New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters) Web site [https://www.nzart.org.nz/], by Don, ZL2TLL, NZART ALO: Use of ZM callsigns during COVID-19 Lock-down -- At the suggestion of Paul, ZL4TT, we applied to Radio Spectrum Management for, and have been granted, approval to treat the COVID-19 lock down period as a "special event". This means that, for the duration of the lock down, New Zealand Amateurs may use the ZM prefix instead of the ZL prefix on their callsign. Please feel free to use these callsigns from today. We hope that the use of the ZM prefix will: * help to relieve the boredom for amateurs stuck at home over the lock-down period; and * increase the profile of New Zealand amateurs (and New Zealand in general) overseas. Stay safe in your bubble. ZW60, BRAZIL (Special Event). BY the time you read this, the special event station ZW60DF will be active until April 30th. Activity is to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Brasilia, Brazil's capital in 1960. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, APRIL 07, 2020, Helsinki, Finland SRAL - The Finnish Amateur Radio League PLEASE JOIN THE GLOBAL AMATEUR RADIO NETWORK AS YOU STAY HOME In the world-wide amateur radio community, social distancing is not an issue. The ham radio network operates by radio waves with signals flying high and wide, across all borders near and far. Amateur radio operators are well-known as communicators during the happy days, but also during times of crisis. Even if physically locked down, the world is wide open for them. They are encouraged to communicate, keeping their channels clear and their minds and skills sharp for global messaging if needed. While they now extend the physical distance between friends, at the same time they grow closer in their social distance - their minds and hearts. The Finnish Amateur Radio League (SRAL) with the support of the Finnish Communication Agency (TRAFICOM) are working together to increase awareness and promote the normal orders of each society during this unfortunate period. To do so, the three-million strong amateur radio community is encouraged to stay in touch and keep up their global network. With that charter and mission in mind the SRAL invites all amateurs to join forces. Keep up the radio activity and the global social network! Gene, K5GS, reports [edited]: On Friday, April 10th, the VP8PJ QSL card design was sent to Max (ON5UR QSL Print Service) for review and setup. After our final review is complete the cards will be printed and shipped to Tim, M0URX, for distribution. Thousands of QSOs and mailing labels have already been processed and are ready for place- ment on QSL cards and direct mail envelops. Bureau cards will be placed in the system in early 2021. Of the 83,783 QSOs in the log, 30,548 have been claimed and processed for placement on QSL cards. LoTW is current, and there are no busted call requests in the work queue - to date, all 731 have been investigated and answered by Tim, M0URX. Let's be realistic, the Covid-19 crisis has disrupted the world. Businesses are closed and every facet of our life has been upended. Please be patient, the cards will be mailed as soon as possible. OQRS and LoTW are processed daily. There is no need to send e-mails asking about the QSL cards.... 73, GS K5GS ADDED NOTE BY GENE: LoTW uploads for all donors and anyone that submitted an OQRS for a Direct Mail card have been processed. The following was announced on the "TIMOR-LESTE DXpedition 2020" Web page (http://timor-leste-dx.de): Unfortunately, we had to make the decision that we have to postpone our DXpedition to Timor-Leste to next year. The current situation based on the Corona pandemic makes it impossible to plan anything later in this year. The uncertainty of travel safety, the not predictable impact on the companies we have to rely on and the current restrictions that prevent a solid preparation, forced us to take this step. We hope that we can see clearer by the end of this year what will be in 2021. Until then, stay safe and healthy! 73, The Lagunaria DX Group AO495, SPAIN (Special Event). It started on May 5th, 1940, where Chinese amateur radio operators started an "On air conference". On May 5th, 1947, the conference covered all the regions in China, it was the biggest on air event. In 1942 and 1944, there were 2 exhibitions associated with the "On air conference". In recent years, the CRAC organized several events on May 5th every year and designated that day as a Chinese amateur radio festival, called "5.5 Festival". Due to COVID-19, the CRAC called for all amateur radio operators "Stay Home" to fight for the Conoravirus situation. The 2020 "5.5 Festival" was shifted to the air waves. The CRAC provides special awards to whose who meet the criteria below. Although we are missing DXpeditions, there is a tremendous amount of activity on the bands as every country in the world seems to have stay at home orders. With no expeditions, some may be experiencing a lack of motivation to get on the air. We have the answer! CQ's annual DX Marathon!! Each year hams are invited to work as many countries and CQ zones as possible. So far this year over 255 CQ countries have been active plus all 40 zones. That is a lot of DX chasing to keep everyone busy! There are plenty of certificates and even plaques for the top scores each year, but many hams simply compete against themselves to improve their totals each year. This is a wonderful time to participate in the DX Marathon and see how many countries and zones you can work this year!!! Complete details on the DX Marathon are available on the DX Marathon website - www.dxmarathon.com . Come and join the fun! 73, John K9EL CB3, CHILE (Special Event).
