3B7, ST. BRANDON. Pat, 3B8FA, will be active as 3B7FA from St. Brandon
(AF-015) between October 26-31st. Activity will be limited and on 20/15/10
meters using mostly the Digital modes. QSL via LoTW, or via his home

3D2/P, ROTUMA. A couple of sources report that Antoine, 3D2AG, will be
active as 3D2AG/P from Rotuma Island sometime between December 6th and
January 15th (2016). Activity will be on 40-6 meters using CW, SSB and
possible PSK31. Another source (DXNews.com) states that he will also try
80 meters and will use an Icom IC-7000 and TS440S transceivers with 3
element yagis and an inverted V antenna and 6 element Yagi for 6m. Antoine
is with the European Union Global Climate Change Alliance Project and
Pacific Centre for Environment and Sustainable Development, plus the
University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji. QSL via his home callsign

4W, TIMOR-LESTE. Sei, JA7LU, is now and once again be active as 4W/JA7LU
from Timor-Leste (OC-148) until September 9th. Activity will be on 40-10
meters, but will be focused 20/15 meters using SSB and RTTY. QSL via his
home callsign direct only.
5W, SAMOA. Craig, VK2ACH, is currently active as 5W0CW from Aggie Grey
Hotel, Apia, Upolu Island (OC-097). Length of stay not known. Activity
has been on the HF Bands. QSL via his home callsign.
6Y, JAMAICA. Masato, JA0RQV, will be active as 6Y5/JA0RQV mainly from
a Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica (NA-097), from the middle of October for
2 months. Activity will be mostly on the weekend and spare time during
his local time as he is on a business trip. He states that if situation
allows, he might stay and operate from the station of Josh, 6Y5WJ, and
to be an entry in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 24-25th) from his
powerful station (1kw and Beam antennas). QSL via his home callsign,

BIRD DISTANCE RECORD! [Possible New Distance Record on the AO-7 Satellite].
Dave, KG5CCI, operating portable on a mountain in Grid EM24UQ worked EA5TT
in Grid IM99SL on September 5th at approximately 1812 UTC on the AO-7
satellite in Mode B (U/V). The distance according to Tiny Locator was
7931km. The high elevation in EM24 made it possible to exceed the theoret-
ical 7900km maximum range for AO-7. AO-7 was launched in 1974 and went
silent in 1981. It came back to life in 2002 and now operates when in
sunlight from its circular 1450km orbit. Congratulations to Dave and
Manuel!
C6, BAHAMAS. Randy, K5SL, is now active as C6ASL from Freeport, Grand
Bahama Island (NA-080) until September 18th. Activity is holiday style
on 40-17 meters using on CW and SSB, but focused on 30/17 meters. QSL
via K5GS.
CB1, CHILE. Members of the Antofagasta Contest Group will be active as
CB1H during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 24-25th) as a Multi-? entry.

CE0Y, EASTER ISLAND. Operators Yan/RZ3FW and Sergey/R4WAA will be active
as CE0Y/RZ3FW and CE0Y/R4WAA, respectively, from Easter Island (SA-001)
between November 24th and December 2nd. QSL via their home callsigns.
D4, CAPE VERDE. Operators Chris/DL2MDU and YL Heike/DL3HD will be active
as D44TUK and D44TUQ, respectively, from Boa Vista Island (AF-086) between
September 11-25th. Activity will be holiday style on 80-10 meters using
CW and the Digital modes. QSL via DL2MDU.
E5, NORTH COOK ISLANDS (Update). Operators Rob/N7QT, YL Melanie "Mel"/N7BX,
and Grant/KZ1W will be be active as E51MQT and E51MKW from Manihiki Atoll
(OC-014) between September 29th and October 27th. KZ1W's operation as E51MKW
will end on October 13th. Activity has been updated to 160-10 meters using
CW, SSB and RTTY, with a K3/KPA500 and a CrankIR vertical on the beach.
Rob reports, "We are making progress on expedition planning. Lodging and
airline tickets have been secured. K3/KPA500 and CrankIR verticals on the
beach. We might be calling for EU/AF as well as NA/SA during their respec-
tive sunrise and sunsets, and will work the rest of the world during the

EI1916, IRELAND (Special Event). look for special event station EI1916E
to be active between January 2016 and Dec 2016. Activity will be on SSB,
RTTY and PSK. This station commemorates the centenary of the 1916 "Easter
Rising" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Rising> and the fight for
the Irish Republic independence. QSLs will be via LoTW or via EI3GC (see

ENIGMA EVENT (An international event between September 12-25th). Members
of the ARI Fidenza will be activating special callsigns IO4ENG and IQ4FE
during the "Enigma Event". The Enigma Event consists of exchanging ham
radio messages over the air encrypted with the Enigma code of WW II
memory to commemorate its importance in the history of communications
and encryption. The Event Enigma is one of the "European Researchers'
Night" events on Sept 25th, when a number of initiatives will be organized
by European research and cultural institutions. An Amateur Radio Award
(ENIGMA AWARD) is associated with this event. The ham activity of the
ENIGMA AWARD will start on Sept. 12th. All details and rules are available

FM/TO2, MARTINIQUE. Kostyantyn, VE3LA, will be active as FM/VE8DX from
Martinique (NA-107) between October 17-27th. He will also be active as

FO, FRENCH POLYNESIA. Just a reminder that Heinz, DF1YP, will once again

IOTA NEWS..............
AF-119. S79C UPDATE/PRESS RELEASE (date September 4th): Just over a
month ago, the S79C team released information about their plans
to activate brand new IOTA AF-119, Coetivy Island.
With little over 2 months before our departure, we are de-
lighted to confirm that plans are definite and large deposits
have already been paid to the relevant departments. We have
obtained all necessary permits both to visit and operate from
Coetivy and are looking forward to bringing this new one to so
many island chasers and DXers around the globe.
As of last week, all individual flights have now been booked.
Departing from cities such as Adelaide, Paris, Dublin, Rome,
Warsaw and Amsterdam, will see the whole team meet up in Mahe,
capital of Seychelles, on November 14/15th. On November 16th we
leave for Coetivy.
As private airplane charter is needed to access the island,
costs are terrifically high, higher than staging a DXpedition to
some rare entities! We kindly urge IOTA and DX chasers to support

SA-071. Labeled as the "deadliest island in the world" because of snakes,
look for operators Marcelo/PY2AE, Murilo/PY2DS and Joao Paulo/
PU2POP to be active as ZY2QG from Queimada Grande Island (DIB
SP-17 [NEW!]) and lighthouse (DFB SP-11, ARLHS BRA-086, WLOTA
0242) sometime in November for 24 hours only. On QRZ.com, it
states, "A Discovery Channel documentary, Treasure Quest: Snake
Island, claimed that there is between two and four thousand snakes
on the 430,000 square meter island which equates to an average
of one snake per approximately 75 square meters over the entire
island. This contrasts with claims of an average of one to as
many as five snakes per square meter... It is home to an endemic
species of Bothrops, the 'Golden Lancehead Viper' (Bothrops
insularis), which is one of the most venomous snakes in the
world. Much about its venom is disputed, as no cases of humans

mati (Christmas Island) [OC-024] between March 2-15th (2016). Activity
will be on 160-10 meters using CW, SSB and the Digital modes. They also
plan to be in the ARRL International DX SSB Contest (March 5-6th). The

TX3X CHESTERFIELD ISLAND DXPEDITION NEWS. Gene, K5GS, reported this past
week that [edited] "1,090 kg of TX3X equipment was processed through New
Zealand's Customs on Monday, August 30th, and is now at our equipment
consolidation point in Auckland. The gear was packed in Pelican cases
and barrels, then wrapped in cardboard / plastic by the shipping agent.
Special thanks to Don Greenbaum, N1DG, for his help in arranging the
shipping logistics for TX3X and Jim Sansoterra, K8JRK, for providing the
Pelican cases.
Boat loading is scheduled for Sept 13-15th, 2015, at Bayswater Marina,
Auckland, NZ."
TX6, FRENCH POLYNESIA. Moto, JA1GZV, is now active as TX6A from Tahiti
Island (OC-046). Length of activity is unknown. Most of the activity
has been on 20 meters CW. QSL only via JA1GZV. PLEASE NOTE: The TX6A
callsign was originally used in October 2006 operation by Sam, F6AML,
who was on Mayotte.
V6, MICRONESIA. Operators Sho, JA7HMZ, will once again be active as V63DX
from Pohnpei Island (OC-010) between November 27th and December 5th.
Activity will be on 160-6 meters, all modes and including the CQWW DX CW
Contest (November 28-29th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry signing V6A. He
will be looking for European stations on 160m before and after the contest.

V7, MARSHALL ISLANDS (Update). A group of JA operators will be active
from Majuro Island (OC-029) between September 24-28th. Operators are YL
Mami/JP3AYQ (V73YL) and her husband Sanny/JJ3CIG (V73H), Team Leader
Takio/JH3QFL (V73A) and Co-Leader Keizo "Kay"/JH3AZC (V7EME). Activity
will be holiday style on 40-6 meters, satellite, EME, CW, SSB, RTTY and
JT65A. Radios are a FT857 and FT847. Their antennas will be a homebrew 3
element full size beam (3 bands) and a SpiderBeam antenna (5 band). They
will also have two Elecraft 500w amp for HF to use and 800w out station

He states, "It may be the first time operation for EME from V7 land

VK0EK DXPEDITION NEWS (Heard Island Expedition Newsletter Vol. 1 No. 4).
The current Heard Island Expedition Newsletter (Vol. 1, No. 4) is now
out. Individuals may have already received this because they subscribed
to it, or they made a donation to the expedition, or they are a team member
or a corporate sponsor, or Bob, KK6EK, just happens to know you and think

The administrator of the Heard Island Expedition Angel Matching Fund,
Dr. Anders Jepsen, reports that the Angel has agreed to repeat the offer
made at Visalia, Dayton, and Friedrichshafen: Any donations made at the
W4DXCC Convention, will be eligible for dollar-for-dollar matching to
benefit VK0EK.
To be eligible for matching, the donation must be received at the
convention.You can make your donation in cash or check, or if you are
caught short, make it by PayPal or bank transfer and give the receipt
to Fred, but you must be at the W4DXCC convention to qualify for matching.

from St. Brandon (AF-015) sometime between October 26-30th. Activity will
be limited to his spare time with operations on 20/15/10 meters using SSB
and the Digital modes (SSTV and PSK93). Equipment: Yaesu FT857/897 with
100 watts into a vertical antenna. Pat states, "I will operate when time

9Y, TRINDAD AND TOBAGO. Dave, WJ2O, will be active as 9Y4/WJ2O from
Trinidad Island (SA-011) between November 25-30th. He will be there with
his wife during the American Thanksgiving holiday. Activity will include

(NA-146, DIFO FJ-001, WLOTA 0377) between June 17-29th (2016). Look for
W9DR as FJ/W9DR on 6 meters only (50.115 MHz), CW/SSB with a 6m Beacon

FM/TO2, MARTINIQUE (Update). Kostyantyn "Ken", VE3LA, will be active as
FM/VE8DX from Martinique (NA-107) between October 17-27th. He will also
be active as TO2M during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 24-25th) as a
Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power entry. Activity outside of the contest will
be on CW and SSB on all bands. Ken tells OPDX, "Prior and after contest
activity will be limited as this will be also my family vacation. But
I'll try to accommodate SKEDs if somebody needs a new country. I'm trying
to pay back to the society as a DXCC HR#1 holder. There were a lot of
SKEDs to get it. I'm celebrating 10th anniversary of my DXCC HR#1 and 30
years on the radio. This year's first satisfactory result was All-Time
World Record in SOU HP category in ARRL DX Contest. I'm looking forward
to meeting all my friends on the radio during WWDX as well." QSL both

GB2, ENGLAND (Special Event). Look for special event station GB2QLR to
be active until September 15th. Activity is to celebrate Queen Elizabeth
II becoming the longest reigning British Head of State, and the longest
reigning female monarch in history, surpassing Queen Victoria. Activity
will be on the HF and VHF bands using SSB. QSL via operators' instructions.
INAUGURATION OF KOSOVAR AMATEUR RADIO ASSOCIATION (SHRAK) RADIO STATION.
Press Release from Pristina, Kosovo, dated September 10th, 2015: With the
start of a new academic year, Amateur Radio has reached a major milestone
in Pristina, capital of the Republic of Kosovo, as the faculty of the
Technical University of Pristina has assigned a facility to this year's
Amateur Radio graduates (40), making an attached radio station and a
library available to the new licensees. The HQ station Z60A will be
activated for the next several days and occasionally from now on.
Following the inauguration, SHRAK will organize their first DX activity
from neighboring Albania for the weekend of September 18-21st. More

EU-105. A group of 6 Belgian operators will be active as TM6NB from
Batz Island between September 14-18th. Operators mentioned
are Walter/ON8CW (Digital Op), Erik/ON4ANN (Team leader & SSB
Op), Philippe/ON4ACP (CW Op), Erik/ON4CCV (SSB Op), Francois/
ON4LO (SSB Op) and Paul/ON5PDV (SSB & Digital Op). Activity

EU-125. Rene, DL2JRM, will once again be active as OZ/DL2JRM/p from

OC-177. Budi, YF1AR, was expected to be active as YF1AR/0 from Tidung
Island, Seribu Islands (New Island), this past week between
September 12-13th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters using

J8, THE GRENADINES. Ken, WA4SQM, will be active as J8/WA4SQM from Palm
Island in The Grenadines (NA-025) between September 13-18th. Activity
will be holiday style and mainly on the QRP CW frequencies (mainly 40/20

JW, SVALBARD. Jacek, SQ5BPF, will once again be active as JW/SQ5BPF from
the Polish Polar Station in Hornsund, Spitsbergen Island (EU-063), between
September 19-27th. Activity will be on the HF bands when time permits. QSL

KG4, GUANTANAMO BAY. Jim, KG9LB, will be active as KG4AW from Guantanamo
Bay [GTMO] (NA-015) between October 9-16th. Activity will be on 160-6 meters
using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK. QSL via his home callsign direct. ADDED NOTES:
"The Daily DX" reports that Bill/W4WV (KG4WV) and Keith/KE4KDY (KG4DY)
will also be there with Jim. The group will activate Over the Windward
Point Lighthouse (GTM-001) over October 10-11th weekend. Keith and Jim
will depart GTMO on October 16th, while Bill will remain until October 23rd.
LU, ARGENTINA. Operators Hoc/LU5BE (CW), Henry/LU8EFF and Leo/LU3AAL will
be active as homecalls/GR from Herradura, Province of Formosa (Grid Locator
GG03UM), a Region in Argentina, between September 24-27th. There has been
very little activity and almost no CW operations from this area. They
plan to have 3 stations active and 1 station on 50 MHz. Activity will be
on 80/40/20/17/15/10 meters using CW, SSB, PSK31, JT65 and SSTV. QSL via

OJ0, MARKET REEF (Update). Operators Dietmar/DL3DXX, Thomas/DL5LYM, Robert/
SP5XVY and Roman/US5WDX will be active as OJ0DX from Market Reef (EU-053)
between September 19-28th (depending on the WX for boat transfer to/from
the island). Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY.
Look for them to be active during the CW Scandinavian Activity Contest
(September 19-20th) and CQWW DX RTTY Contest (September 26-27th). QSL via

P5, NORTH KOREA (Update). Rick, K6VVA, has posted another update to his
possible P5CW (P5/K6VVA) "CW ONLY" operation at: http://www.p5cw.com

PACIFIC TOUR. Members of the "RF Junkie DXpedition Group" are planning
trips to Tuvalu (OC-015) and Viti Levu Island (OC-016) in the Fiji Island
group during November and December. Operators are Tim/NL8F, Dean/KW7XX,
YL Paula/NX1P, Dick/N7RO and Paul/W7IV. Plans are as follows:
* November 24th-December 2nd -- Tuvalu; callsign T2TT; activity will be
on 160-10 meters; with two stations (possibly three);
mainly CW and SSB with some Digital; QTH is the Vaiaku
Lagi Hotel in Funafuti. Direct and Bureau QSLs for T2TT
will go to K8NA. They will also be offering OQRS from
ClubLog starting on December 3rd. Also, they will upload
to LoTW approximately 4 months after the DXpedition ends.
* December 3-10th -- Fiji; callsign 3D2RJ (pending); activity will be on
160-10 meters; one less operator (NL8F), so 4 operators
and 2 stations; mainly CW and SSB with some Digital; QTH
is Rakiraki from a beach house located on the peninsula
on the northern coast. Direct or Bureau cards for 3D2RJ
will go to Dick N7RO. Also, they will upload to LoTW
approximately 4 months after the DXpedition ends. NO
mention of a OQRS.
It is recommended to look for them on the IOTA frequencies. If these
become too crowded, they will drop lower in the bands to more traditional
DX windows. The team is mostly the same operators they had during the
T32RC operation from Eastern Kiribati back in 2013. For more details and

The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.
PY0F, FERNANDO DE NORONHA (Update). Three of the five member 1992 Navassa
DXpedition Team, Ron/AA4NC, Will/AA4VK, and Murray/WA4DAN are planning a
"reunion" DXpedition to PY0F, Fernando de Noronha (SA-003) between October
18-27th, including operating in the CQWW Phone Contest. Look for operators
to sign PY0F/homecall on all-bands on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY.
Elecraft has generously provided a complete station, including K3S and
KPA500 amp. AA4NC will be the operator for the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October
24-25th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry signing PY0F/AA4NC. A multi-card
color QSL with island scenes similar to the QSLs for their recent CY0

SPECIAL EVENT (Highway to a DX Party!). The Citrus Belt Amateur Radio
Club of San Bernardino, California, is once again hosting (probably one
of the most fun special event activities) the 16th annual "Route 66 On
The Air" special event between September 12-20th. The purpose of this event
is to offer amateur radio operators a fun way to "Relive the Ride" of their
own memories of Route 66, and to celebrate the highway's 85th anniversary.
The U.S. Highway 66 established in 1926, was the first major improved
highway to link the west coast with the nations heartland. Through stories,
songs, and TV shows, the highway came to symbolize the spirit of the
freedom of the open road, inspiring many to see America. Look for the
following 21 stations (two are rovers) operating in or around the major
cities along the old "Route 66" from Santa Monica, California, to Chicago,
Illinois:

along Route 66 during the special event period are encouraged to

other amateur radio operators are welcome to contact these mobile
operators.
REPEATERS - Some of the participating clubs will also be operating this
event from their local VHF/UHF repeaters. Check the ARRL repeater
guide for possible repeater frequencies, if your in the local area.

SV, GREECE. Nicolas, F1RAF, will once again be active as SV8/F1RAF from
Poros Island (not IOTA) between October 25-31st. Activity will be on SSB
only on 20/17/15/12/10 meters. QSL via F1RAF, direct or by the Bureau.
T8, PALAU. Frank, I2DMI, and his wife Giovanna will once again be on
Palau for the Christmas holidays between December 22-29th. Activity will
be holiday style on 80-10 meters using RTTY only. QSL via I2DMI direct

TA3, TURKEY. Ariel, NY4G, will be active as TA3/NY4G sometime around
October 11th for approx. 2-3 weeks. Activity will be limited because
he is there in Izmir on a work assignment. Operations will be on 40-10
meters using mainly CW with 100 watts into an end-fed dipole. QSL via
his home callsign, direct or LoTW. Look for log to be uploaded to ClubLog
and LoTW on a regular basis.
TR, GABON. Alain, F6BCL, informs OPDX that he will once again be active
as TR8CA from Gabon starting on September 15th, and normally for a period
of 4 years, until retirement. He states, "After I'll see if I will stay
in Gabon or in France. This trip Alain will bring a tuning box MFJ 1.5 kW
and a HAM4 rotator for his 3 element beam. He also intends to improve his
antennas 80-160 meters. He adds that his projects for this trip:
* Amplifier 50 MHz to make some contacts via the moon.
* Getting ready to traffic via Phase3E and the future geostationary
satellite funded by some countries of the Persian Gulf. Otherwise,
he will continue his activities via FO29 and AO7 satellites.
* He has little hope to make QSO on 28 MHz and 50 MHz following the
degradation of solar activity.
* He will be active on 20/17/15 meters in the afternoon (1/3 time CW,
1/3 SSB and 1/3 Digital modes (JT65/RTTY/PSK and others like Contestia,
MFSK, Domino ...).

TX3X CHESTERFIELD ISLANDS DXPEDITION (Update #1). After a year of heads
down project planning, budgeting and equipment procurement TX3X will soon
be on the air. Chesterfield Island is now Clublog's Most Wanted #21. As
of Thursday, Sept. 10th, the Advance Team is either in New Zealand, or
en route. Evohe's skipper, Steve Kafka, is at Auckland's Bayswater Marina
preparing to load our equipment between Sept. 13-15th. His position is
visible at: or at by searching on Evohe,
New Zealand. It's not too late to make a donation through the "Donate"

before we sail on Sept. 28th. - LoTW uploads will be processed while we're
on the island. All other donors will receive their LoTW upload on a priority

73, Chesterfield Islands 2015 Team....
TY, BENIN. Nicolas, F8FQX (ex-TJ3SN, TN5SN, 5T5SN), who recently went
QRT from Cameroon in July, will be moving to Benin later this year and
will be active as TY2SN for next three years. Activity will be on 160-6
meters using CW and SSB. QSL via IZ1BZV or LoTW.
UNITED STATES SPECIAL EVENT STATIONS (Press Release by the Holmesburg
Amateur Radio Club) [edited]. Pope Francis will be visiting the United
States between September 22-27th, and amateur radio will be part of the
celebration. Throughout the 5 day event (September 23rd, 0000z ? September
28th, 0000z) 6 special event amateur radio stations will be on the air
to commemorate the event. Callsigns from the Washington DC area will be
K3P and N4P. From New York and New Jersey the callsign will be K2P.
W3FRC/WMF will be on the air from southeastern Pennsylvania and W3P will
be on the air in Philadelphia. WM3PEN, also of Philadelphia, will join
in Thursday evening at 8:00 PM EST (Friday 0000 GMT). Four unique QSL
cards will be available along with a certificate to mark this special

The Washington DC operations are being coordinated by Jim Nitzberg, WX3B,
of the Potomac Valley Radio Club. The southeastern Pennsylvania and New
Jersey operations are under the direction of Ron Sigismonti, N3RS, of the
Frankford Radio Club. The New York activity is being coordinated by John
Melfi, W2HCB, of the Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club. W3P efforts on
the air are being coordinated by Joe Leone, KA3LKM. WM3PEN operations are
being coordinated by Bob Josuweit, WA3PZO, and the Holmesburg Amateur
Radio Club.
We are privileged to be able to represent our region of the USA via
Amateur Radio. Every three years there is a "World Meeting of Families".
In 2012 amateur radio operators in Italy had the call II2POPE on the air.
This year amateur radio operators in 5 states will be on the air to
commemorate the event. This year with the "World Meeting of Families" in
Philadelphia and the second time a Pope has visited Philadelphia, Ron
Sigismonti, says having several special event stations on the air by
members of a club that originated in Philadelphia, then expanded to en-
compass the entire region out to 175 miles of Philadelphia; another club
whose members will be on the air in the same section of Philadelphia that
the Pope is visiting; and another group of Philadelphia operators who are
excited about the "World Meeting of Families" being held in the City will
really make this a special event. Additionally, operations from the Greater
Washington D.C. metropolitan area, metropolitan New York City, and parts
of New Jersey will encompass the entire region visited by Pope Francis in
the United States. It will allow those who can?t be in the various cities
that he is visiting to participate in this event by talking to those who
are. In essence this will be a world family meeting of amateur radio
operators.
The Pope arrives at Joint Base Andrews on September 22nd, and begins
his visit in Washington D.C. with a meeting with President Obama on
Wednesday, September 23rd. He delivers a speech to a joint session of
Congress on Thursday, September 24th. On Friday he attends a meeting of
the United Nations General Assembly in New York and participates in a
multi-religious service at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum at the World
Trade Center. On Saturday he gives a speech at Independence Hall in
Philadelphia and concludes his visit to the U.S. with an outdoor mass
in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Sunday, September 27th.

head to the Caribbean, but this time from St. Kitts over the CQWW RTTY
Contest this year. He will be there between September 24th and October
4th. Al states, "As usual I plan to concentrate on the data modes, with
RTTY being my favorite, but I also like to operate PSK125 when I can find
some activity. My callsign will be V4/W6HGF. My son Ed, KK4PHP, will also

VE2/VE3, CANADA (Grids Op on the Birds!). Bob, K8BL, reports [edited],
"I plan to leave for my Fall Grid Trip on Thursday, September 17th, which
will take me through northern Ontario and Quebec. The first day will take
me from my home QTH in EN91 to North Bay, ON, FN06. On Friday, September
18th, I'll go through FN07 on my way to Timmins, ON, EN98. On Saturday,
September 19th, I'll operate more EN98 and hopefully get up to EN99. On
Sunday, September 19th, I will travel through FN08 and over to Val d'Or,
QC, in FN18. On Monday, September 21st, I'll go through FN17 and 16 and
end up in Mont Tremblat, QC, FN26. On Tuesday, September 22nd, I go to
Watertown, NY, FN24, and home to EN91 on Wednesday, September 23rd. I
usually work FO29 10-15 kHz up from center-band and SO50, if I can squeeze
my callsign into the fray. Not ever knowing what Mode AO7 will be in, I
might give it a try. Never been on AO73. My hope is to give as many new
Grids out to everyone as possible while seeing things few people see.

The current Heard Island Expedition Newsletter (Vol. 1, No. 5 -- dated
September 10th) is now out. Individuals may have already received this

XE719, MEXICO (Special Event). Members of the Federaci?n Mexicana de Radio
Experimetadores (FMRE) will activate special event stations XE719SEP on
September 19-20th. Activity is to commemorate the earthquakes that hit
Mexico City on those dates in 1985. The "719" in the callsign represents
the local time of the first earthquake, 7:19 am on September 19, 1985.
The official start of this activity will begin at 7:19 am (time of Mexico
City - 12:19 UTC) on Saturday, September 19th, and will end at 19:40 pm
on Sunday, September 20th (local time of Mexico City, 00:40 UTC Monday,
September 21st) this year. Bands and modes of transmission are published

PLEASE NOTE: The "XE Time" in this chart is the same as Central Daylight

CDXF PRESS RELEASE (Charlotte, North Carolina, September 16, 2015).
Formation of Carolina DX Foundation -- The Carolina DX Association
(CDXA) is pleased to announce, effective immediately, the formation of
the Carolina DX Foundation, a non-profit organization under the rules
of the Internal Revenue Service Section 501(c)(3). The purpose of the
CDXF is to support amateur radio DXpeditions through financial distribu-
tions. Specifically, benefits of DXpedition support by the CDXF include
the furtherance of scientific research exploring electromagnetic wave
propagation in the high frequency domain, and education through public
presentations by DXpeditions supported by the CDXF. Donations to the
CDXF are accepted from individuals and organizations, and are tax deductible
per IRS rules and regulations. The CDXF is a separate, and separately
managed, entity from the CDXA. The Officers of the CDXF will be elected
on a yearly basis, in December, by all those who have donated to the CDXF
in the preceding twelve months. Initially the Officers are: President,
Hal Bouton, N4QT; Vice President, Bill Fisher, W4GRW; and Secretary-
Treasurer, Cliff Wagoner, W3ZL. The Officers will make all final decisions
regarding distribution of DXpedition donations.
The foundation of the CDXF stems from Frank Dowd, K4BVQ, generously
donating his radio collection to the CDXA several years ago, netting the
CDXA over $15,000 for DXpedition donations. Hal Bouton, President of
CDXF, says "Without Frank?s generosity, the CDXF would not be possible.
We are excited about building on this foundation and adding to it to help
fund important DXpeditions into the future."

DXCC YEARBOOK 2014 (DXCC Listing -- Where Oh Where Did It Go!). Some of
you may have noticed [or may have not] that the "2014 DXCC Annual List"
in the October digital edition of "QST" has disappeared. Probable reason

E6, NIUE (Update). Operators of the UK group "6-G", most of whom formed

FM/TO, MARTINIQUE (Update). Gerd, DL7VOG, will be active as TO4GU and
FM/DL7VOG from Martinique (NA-107) between November 10th and December
8th. Gerd explain the use of his callsign for this operation as follows:
"The only problem with the guest license was, they issue TO calls just
for a period of only 15 days. That means for me to work half of the time
under TO(4X), the other half under FM/DL7VOG. Odd rules! Unfortunately
the time period is too short to cover both contests - the WAE-RTTY and
the CQWW CW with a short callsign - there is always a day missing, either
the first day of the WAE or the last day of the CQWW. So I decided to use

FT4X, KERGUELEN ISLAND. A couple of sources reported this past week that
Nicolas, F4EGX, will be going to Ratmanoff, Kerguelen Island (AF-048) late

TX3X CHESTERFIELD DXPEDITION NEWS. The following are press releases [edited]:
Update #2 -- (Sept. 16th) The TX3X Advance Team began unpacking the ship-
ments on Saturday, 12 Sept, and trucking equipment to the boat that after-
noon. By Sunday noon the radios, antennas, amplifiers, generators, tents,
etc were loaded aboard Evohe. Local volunteers Roly, ZL1BQD, and wife Gail,
ZL1FV, along with Ross, K6GFJ, purchased the electrical grid as well as
tools and other items before we began the loading process.
On Monday and Tuesday we sourced: 450 liters of drinking water for use
on the island, other supplies, and took delivery of 7 steel fuel drums for
1,400 liters of generator fuel.
By Wednesday evening everything was on the boat and the skipper was
loading food in preparation for sailing. He plans to sail to Noumea, New
Caledonia, late Thursday or Friday morning (New Zealand time). There's
some weather along his planned route to New Caledonia, he's waiting it
out in Auckland.
We meet the radio team 25 - 26 Sept in Noumea and sail to Chesterfield
probably 27 or 28 Sept, depending on weather. We'll arrive Chesterfield
around Oct 1+/- and start setting up. Maritime mobile operation will be
with the individual operator's callsign. TX3X can not be used before 30
Sept.
Unfortunately we were unable to meet the E6GG team in Auckland, we were
too busy sourcing items and waiting for deliveries to the boat.

Update #3 -- (Sept. 18th) The Expedition Yacht Evohe sailed for Noumea,
New Caledonia, on Thursday afternoon (New Zealand time). Expected sailing
duration 6 - 7 days. Aboard the boat is a crew of 5 and one amateur,
Pista HA5AO. She's following the New Zealand northeast coast and will
soon be on a course to Noumea. The remainder of the radio team will
assemble in Noumea between 25 - 26 September, with a planned departure
date to Chesterfield on 28 September.

especially the from the New Zealand firms and individuals that assisted
with the project and provided invaluable support.

VP8SGI/VP8STI DXPEDITION NEWS (Press Release from the Intrepid-DX Group
VP8 Team). Paul, N6PSE, sent out the following on September 15th [edited]:
The South Sandwich Islands are a cold and inhospitable place. At 59
degrees south, Southern Thule Island is one of the most remote places on
Earth.
Southern Thule is closer to the polar circle and the South Pole than
either Bouvet Island or Heard Island. To get there, we will voyage the
Drake Passage and brave strong winds and high seas. Our sole focus is to
get you in our logs.
The Intrepid DX Group is pleased to announce that all of our plans are
moving forward very well. We are pleased to report that all of our gear
has arrived in Tauranga, New Zealand. It has been fumigated and is now
being stored before it is loaded onto the RV Braveheart for her long voyage
to meet the team in the Falkland Islands.
At this time, we wish to inform the Global DX Community of our intended
QRV dates from each island. We will depart Stanley, the Falkland Islands,
on January 9th, 2016. Approximately five days later, we will arrive in King
Edward Point, South Georgia, where we will meet with the Government of
South Sandwich and South Georgia and undergo a safety and biodiversity
briefing. We will then voyage three more days south to Southern Thule
Island in the South Sandwich chain of Islands.
We expect to arrive at South Sandwich on January 17th, however, that is
dependent on the weather and sea conditions. Our ship Captain tells us that
it is common to encounter rough seas on the way to South Sandwich and that
rough seas and bad weather can prevent our landing by several days. We plan
to be on South Sandwich for ten days operating as VP8STI. We will then
break down our camp and voyage three days back to Husvik Bay, South Georgia,
where we expect to land and set up operations on or about February 1st. We
will operate from South Georgia Island as VP8SGI.
Our main priority is to make a great impact to the need for South Sandwich
contacts and we will sacrifice our time at South Georgia to ensure that we
make that impact from South Sandwich.
We expect to return to Stanley, the Falkland Islands, on February 14th.
We will be QRV from Stanley as VP8IDX until our flights home on February
20th.
When our voyage starts, you can see our location in real time on a map
on our website. You will know when we are about to land or are departing
one island for the other. We will be in daily satellite communications
with our Pilots, and support team. You can get a feel for propagation
as we will be QRV as VP8IDX/MM on the way to and from the islands.
Our plan is to be at each of these top ten entities for ten days. To
effectively do that, we need your support.
We are seeking more support from the many DX Clubs of North America,
Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe and Asia that have yet to make a

YJ, VANUATU (Update). Robert, DL7VOA, will be active as YJ4AO from the Eratap
Beach Resort, Port Vila, Efate Island (OC-035, WLOTA 1051), between December
27th and January 13th (2016). Activity will be holiday style mainly on CW
during the evening and night hours (maybe some SSB, no Digital). Equipment
is an Elecraft K2 plus a borrowed amplifier with about 500 watts into a
10m pole with vertical dipoles on 10/12/15/17/20m and groundplanes for 30m
and 40m. QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the Bureau. Robert states
that this will be a special DXpedition celebrating his 40th birthday, 10th
wedding anniversary and 25th anniversary on the air (a little late because
it was already in 2013). He adds, "For this reason I obtained the special
callsign YJ4AO which is a reminiscence to my very first callsign Y24AO. My
wife and I always dreamed of visiting the South Pacific only once in our
lifetime, and we are very happy to be able to do this trip now, so I ask
everybody to understand that I spend some time with my wife with usual
holiday activities like snorkeling, etc.... instead of conducting a 100%

ZA, ALBANIA (Press Release Dated September 16th). From Pristina, Republic
of Kosovo [edited] -- GOODWILL DXPEDITION TO ALBANIA, ZA1KS - A team of
ops from the new Kosovar Amateur Radio Society (SHRAK) will be heading
to Albania together with their guests to activate ZA1KS (KS stands for
Kosovo) on several bands during this extended weekend. The trip takes
three hours by road from Pristina.
This DX outing is led by SHRAK President Vjollca, Z61VB (YL), together
with Hidajete, Z63HBF (YL); Agim, Z61AS; Driton, Z61DX and Fehmi, Z62FB,
who will be accompanied by Marijan, S56A; Pekka, OH2YY and Martti, OH2BH.
They will fire up with two K3s & SPE Expert amps from the coastal city of
Durres, one of the region's attractive tourist destinations.
These ops aired Z60A and three other Z6 stations in last weekend's

kaskloof is situated in the Swartberg Nature Reserve and is approximately
100 kilometres from Oudtshoorn. The goal is to achieve a SARL Worked All

FT4X, KERGUELEN ISLANDS. Update - From Nicolas, F4EGX, on QRZ.com [edited]:
My work will bring me to south hemisphere for a scientific mission at
Ratmanoff, 30km northeast of Port-aux-Fran?ais, Kerguelen archipelago. My
scientist job is to maintain measuring instruments whose electronics works
in very rough conditions and to prepare equiment requirement for future
missions. In the same time, I will also study king penguins with col-
leagues and help them in their work.
I will leave France at mid-November to R?union Island, and there get
on board of "Marion Dufresne", the supply ship of the French Austral
Territories. It will take approximately 10-15 day to reach the Kerguelen
archipelago with a stopover at Crozet archipelago. After few days at
Port-Aux-Fran?ais station, I'll have to probably walk 30km to the shelter
at Cap Ratmanoff, carrying my stuff on the back with heavy rain and
strong wind. That is why I will try to travel as light as possible.
About my hamradio activities: They will be secondary to scientific work.
To give a little idea of this activity, I will be isolated for weeks with
only daily local marine-VHF non-ham radio-communications with the Port-
Aux-Fran?ais base. FT4XU is primary to give somes news to hamradio
friends around the world, like ham-spirit. :) It's not intended for
contest-QSO style. At the shelter, I will live with other persons in a
confined space and my colleagues will have probably no knowledge about
this hobby. They will maybe have to endure the traffic audio noise and
this noise will be a potentially disturbance for them after a long and
harsh working day. I hope to have the opportunity to present to my col-
leagues the best of hamradio as a pleasant communication, with friendly,
but disciplined OM. Although my English is not particularly good, I
had nice memories of some great long QSO with Australia, New Zealand and
Crozet Island when I was in Antarctica as FT5YI in 2008. I want to replicate
this scheme, but my working conditions will be even more difficult.
My working conditions will be : FT857, 50W and a dipole antenna which
can only be installed at human height, battery powered. There will be no
PC for logging, only paper log. Logs won't be sent while activity because
of no internet connection. Our camp will have no electricity, so I will
have to work with batteries. They will be charged with solar energy when
not needed by the scientific work.
QSLing: I will give my log to Jean-Luc / F1ULQ who will handle cards
AFTER I come back, don't ask for correction before. QSL card will be
designed with travel photos and printed AFTER also. As I'm not member of
national bureau, only direct exchange will be possible.
Sked: It will not be possible to organize skeds: My only way to contact
the world is my hamradio equipment. No internet or no phone connection.
Band operations: don't ask for specific bands, there will be no low bands
or magic band activity. I can not carry a lot of material. For weight and
volume reasons, I have to take only the minimum and necessary equipment.

Hope that chance will allow us to cross our antennas in good conditions.

callsign LU4AA/D from the Argentine exclave Martin Garcia Island
(ILLW AR 022, WW Loc. GF05VT) in Uruguayan waters (part of the
La Plata in Buenos Aires Province) between/around 2000z, October
1st and 1400z, October 4th. Operators mentioned are Francisco/
LU1AET, Martin/LU1AMH, Fernando/LU1ARG, Carlos LU1BCE, Fernando/
LU2BPM, Nico/LW3DN and Juan/LU8ARI. Activity will be on 80-10
meters, as well as 6m/2m/70cm, and using CW, SSB, Satellites,

PLEASE NOTE: The trip, originally planned for middle August
had to be rescheduled as a strong storm caused a heavy flooding
and closed the departure port.

using SSB mostly and possible Digital modes. Operations will be more
than casual but not full time. Smith Island is the only unattached
inhabited island in the Chesapeake Bay, and was settled in the mid to

TX3X CHESTERFIELD DXPEDITION NEWS (Update #4, dated September 25th)[edited].
Six members of the TX3X team are now in Noumea, New Caledonia, five
arrived by air and one by sea. The boat arrived on Thursday, Sept. 23rd,
and is docked at the Port Moselle Marina with a crew of 6. She had a
relatively comfortable ride from New Zealand, with some moderate seas
north of New Zealand and then the seas settled down which made for a
smooth ride, total time at sea 7 days. The other 6 team members are
scheduled to arrive on Noumea on Saturday, Sept. 26th. This is a holiday
weekend in New Caledonia, many businesses and government offices are
closed. We are planning to depart for the reef on Monday, Sept. 28th,
after Customs and Immigration formalities are processed. We will send
out an update just before we leave Noumea.

V7, MARSHALL ISLANDS (Update to OPDX.1228). A German team will be active
from the Republic of the Marshall Islands as V73D from Majuro Island
(OC-029) between October 13-28th. The following 12 operators are highly
experienced by various contests and DXpeditions: Rolf/DL7VEE (Initiator
and team leader), Werner/DJ9KH, Heye/DJ9RR, Rudolf/DK3CG, Joe/DK5WL,
Guenter/DL2AWG, Norbert/DL2RNS, Georg/DL4SVA, Hans/DL6JGN, Franz/DL9GFB,
Wolf/DM2AUJ and Sid/DM2AYO. They will have 4 500-watts-stations simulta-
neously on the air 24/7, on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. Suggested
frequencies are listed in OPDX.1228. An OQRS will be used from ClubLog
for both direct or Bureau QSLs (Preferred). QSL via DL4SVA, direct or
by the Bureau. Log will be uploaded 6 months after DXpedition. The Web

VP2M, MONSTERRAT (Update). Operators Stan/AC8W (VP2MAC), Lee/N8LJ (VP2MLJ)
and Jim/KB8TXZ (VP2MXT) [all from Michigan] will be active from Gingerbread
Hill, St. Peters Parish, Montserrat (NA-103, WLOTA 1475, WW Loc. FK86VS),
between October 1-8th. Activity will be on 160-6 meters, using CW, SSB and
RTTY, with Elecraft K-2, Elecraft K-3S, Ten-Tec Eagle and 100 watts into
a Tri-band beam, multi-band vertical, dipoles and 6m beam. QSL all via
K8ESQ.
YB, INDONESIA (WFF Op). Operators Hajar/YB8HZ, Ram/YB8BRI and Andi/YC8HBN
will be active from Bantimurung (YBFF#053), Bulusaraung, between October
1-4th. Callsign(s) and QSL route(s) were not mentioned.
Z3, MACEDONIA. Tone, Z36N, will be active during the CQWW DX RTTY Contest
(September 26-27th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (15m) entry. QSL via his
home callsign, direct or by the Bureau.
