FM/TO, MARTINIQUE. Gerd, DL7VOG, will be active from Martinique (NA-107)
between November 10th and December 8th. Gerd explain the use of his callsign
for this operation as follows: "The only problem with the guest license was,
they issue TO calls just for a period of only 15 days. That means for me
to work half of the time under TO(4X), the other half under FM/DL7VOG. Odd
rules! Unfortunately the time period is too short to cover both contests -
the WAE-RTTY and the CQWW CW with a short callsign - there is always a day
missing, either the first day of the WAE or the last day of the CQWW. So I
decided to use the short callsign only during CQWW CW." For more details
and updates, watch: http://www.dl7vog.de/html/fm_travelreport.html
FS, ST. MARTIN. John, W9ILY, will be active as FS/W9ILY from St. Martin

on a "Medical Mission Trip" with his XYL. Activity will be mainly on the
satellites (SSB/FM), with a possibility of some HF activity (QRP). His
activity on the satellite will be on FO29, AO7, AO73 and SO50. As this
was being written, Doug was thinking of using/taking his FT-817 (this
could change). QSL via KD8CAO and LoTW.
HI7, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. Roberto, YV5IAL will be active as HI7/YV5IAL
between October 25-31st. This will be a QRP/Portable, holiday style

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE :
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

VP8SGI & VP8STI DXPEDITION NEWS (Press Release). Paul, N6PSE, sent out the
following press release on July 31st: The Intrepid DX Group is pleased to
announce that all of our plans are moving forward very well. We are pleased
that we have been able to add World-Class CW Maestro Dmitri Zhikharev-RA9USU
to our team.
We have now shipped all of our equipment to New Zealand at considerable
expense. Our container contents will be loaded aboard the RV Braveheart
and will meet us in the Falkland Islands in January.
This will be a ?Pure DX? event. We have assembled a team of World-Class
experienced operators, including two DX Hall of Fame members. Our sole
focus is on getting you in our logs!
When our voyage starts, you can see our location in real time on a map
on our website. You will know when we are about to land or are departing
one island for the other. We will be in daily satellite communications
with our Pilots, and support team. You can get a feel for propagation
as we will be QRV as VP8IDX/MM on the way to and from the islands.
Our plan is to be at each of these top ten entities for ten days. To
effectively do that, we need your support.
The fourteen members of the VP8STI/VP8SGI team have committed to paying
$210,000 of the $425,000 needed to carry out this Dxpedition. To date, we
have raised $118,000 in club and individual donations. We still have a
significant deficit of $97,000. The VP8STI/VP8SGI asks for more support
from the DX Clubs of North America, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe
and Asia to support our plans. Many well established clubs have yet to
donate.
To date, our Club & Individual donations by continent are as follows:
North America: 80% Oceania 1%
Europe: 13% Middle East & Africa: 0%
Asia: 6% Mexico/South America: 0%
So, please consider a generous contribution to this project. To have
your club or organization?s logo included with the QSL card, please
contribute $250 or more. Individual contributions of $150 or more will
be listed with the QSL card. All donors of $25 or more will receive an
early LoTW upload. Everyone who supports the Dxpedition will be listed

It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

busy, and he can only operate when his duties allow. This will mean that
some published operation time may not occur due to operational requirements
and the weather conditions. VI0ANZAC will use the commercial Qmac HF90
transceiver with an output power of 50 watts into a dipole antenna. For
a schedule and the latest, check out QRZ.com and the WIA Web site VI0ANZAC

FR/J, JUAN DE NOVA (Update). The following press release was sent out on
August 14th [edited]: The team is mobilized and carries out many things to
prepare under the best conditions for our operation from the island Juan de
Nova. Until our departure, we will keep you regularly informed through
our official press releases and via our website.
For this new adventure, it was possible to enlarge the team involved
into the Tromelin 2014 operation.
We are happy to welcome Jacques/F6BEE, Yann/F1NGP, Patrick/F2DX and
Pascal/F5PTM. They rejoin Vincent/F4BKV, Flo/F5CWU, Guillaume/F4FET,
Michel/FM5CD and Seb/F5UFX.
We?ll use the same equipment as the one used in Tromelin, supplemented by
various equipment placed at the disposal by sponsors. We are happy to have
at our sides this year Elecraft (transceivers), Spiderbeam (fiber masts),
Messi & Paoloni (coaxial cables), Expert - SPE (amplifiers), DX Engineering
(80m phasing & accessories), MicroHam (interfaces), DX Avenue (6m DX Beam
antenna). These companies allow us to implement all the desired equipment.
We are very grateful for their support.
We do not forget foundations, clubs, associations and individual donators.
Some already accepted our requests and gave us their confidence. However,
we are still far away from the set objective. Within 1 month, the first
payment to settle the boat will have to be carried out. We'd like to make
another call toward the amateur radio community to ask for their assistance
and support. Like we have done with our previous operation, we are engaged
in a meticulous control of the costs by studying each expenditure and by
dismissing all things non essential to a DX Expedition.
The boat that we will use sails in the Indian Ocean throughout the
year, and the crew knows Juan de Nova well and regularly transports
scientists over there. Based on the experiment of our captain, we have
determined dates by taking into consideration the end of the cyclonic
season as well as the best low tide conditions to unload our equipment
at our arrival in the lagoon. We will be on the island from March 31st
to April 14th, 2016. The callsign used during this expedition will be
FT4JA. We recently received the confirmation from the administration.
By then, many points must be solved in order to propose a formidable
experience on the two sides of the pile-up. More than ever we count on
your support.
Join our page Facebook, Twitter (juandenovadx) and visit regularly our
Web site .

LIGHTHOUSE ACTIVITY FOR THE ILLW. Almost 500 stations (from 44 contries)
are listed for this weekend's International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend
(ILLW) [August 15-16th]. Complete details and list of participants are
available at: http://illw.net
Here is a list of last minute entries sent to OPDX:
7T7T -- Operators 7X2UV, 7X2ME, 7X2ZE, 7X2RO, 7X2SP and 7X2OR will be
active as 7T7T from the Cherchell Lighthouse, Algeria, during
the ILLW. QSL via 7X2ARA.
H81L -- Members of the Radio Club de Panama will activate H81L from
Miraflores Lighthouse (ILLW PA0001 and ARLHS PAN-030), Panama

through 24:00 UTC. Activity will be on the HF bands using SSB
and CW. QSL via HP1RCP.
NW8S -- Members of the Lorain County Wireless Operators (LCWO) will
be active August 14th starting at 0001z for 48 hours. The LCWO
will be operating for the International Lighthouse Lightship
Weekend (ILLW). The three man team will depart Lorain Sailing
Club marina by boat for lighthouse number ILLW US0143 and ARLHS
USA-453 at 2pm Friday afternoon. The team will leave with enough
gear to operate from 80-10m with four stations on the air. The
team plans to operate on all bands and all modes including SSB,
CW, and Digital modes. The team plans to set up antennas Friday
afternoon to be on the air for event start. They will use the
club callsign NW8S and will have operators on the air around
the clock. Local operators can coordinate HF on the simplex
frequency of 146.505 MHz which they will be monitoring during
certain time slots of the event. They also plan to engage in
local simplex on 2M FM, and local analog machines as well. The
team will have enough supplies to last for 3 days at the light-
house and plan to depart Sunday afternoon. This will mark the
fourth time an amateur radio station has ever operated from the
lighthouse and the fourth time in decades that the structure
will be occupied overnight. The team of operators would like
to mention that this event, under certain weather conditions,
could be very hazardous and set up times could be delayed pending
weather. Suggested frequencies posted are subject to change with
QRM and the NAQP:
FM - 146.505 MHz
10M - 28350, 28050 and 28120 kHz

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE :
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

unresolved. People in charge of Antarctic expeditions RAE (r/v "Ak.
Fedorov") and SANAP (r/v "S.A.Agulhas II") are currently away on summer
holidays." He believes that since things cannot be resolved until the
governmental authorities return from their summer holiday, the 3Y0F
operation will probably be delayed until 2016-2017. However, the team
continues collect gear and antennas, and plans to put up a Web page
soon to help collect donation pledges. It is suggested to watch the
QRZ.com for news and updates.

E6, NIUE (Update). Don, G3BJ/G5W, reports on the upcoming E6GG September
operation [edited]: All logistics arrangements are now complete for the
E6GG operation to Niue between September 16-29th. The first team members
leave for the South Pacific in late August, and the whole team meets in
Auckland two days before the departure for Niue. All antennas are complete
and tested, as are all the stations and computing equipment. The team
expects some limited operation on September 15th, with all stations oper-
ational on the 16th. The Web site is at and includes a
propagation analysis. The team will be listening exclusively for Europe
during the relatively short European openings on LF, and hopes to work
as many European stations as possible on all bands, where Niue is at
#61 on the most wanted list. Whilst we are listening for Europe, we ask
the rest of the world to stand-by, to give Europeans a chance on this
very marginal LF path. The team is taking some 400 kg of equipment by
air, including four complete high power stations, and will be using
antennas at the water?s edge and cliff-top optimized for low angle high
gain. They will also use a beverage directed to Europe for LF receiving.
E6GG will always use split frequency operation and will announce listening
frequencies regularly. For RTTY they will deploy multi-channel receive,
so your best chance of an early RTTY QSO is to choose a calling frequency
and stay on that frequency until the team finds you. RTTY is likely to
be only on a maximum of two bands.
EA8, CANARY ISLANDS. Zoltan, HA5PP, will be active as EA8/HA5PP from the
Canary Islands during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 28-29th) as a

be active as FS/homecall for 3 days before and 3 days after the contest.

P5, NORTH KOREA (Another Possible Operation!). The following is listed as
"D.P.R.K. Project (Press Release I)" [edited]: During June 2013, Manuel
German, EA7AJR, and I had our first meeting with a D.P.R.K. Government
official. After our meeting, we gave him a Ham Radio project for D.P.R.K.
One year later, April 2014, we had our second meeting, and we gave him a
new project. On April 2015, we had our third meeting, and a new project
was sent to Pyongyang. Just few days later after our project was received
at the Ministry, the D.P.R.K. Government sent us an official invitation to
visit the country looking to discuss our project details in person. Today,
August 17th, 2015, we had a meeting with high level officials from Telecom
Ministry. They were very kind, receptive and cooperative. They knew every-
thing about Ham Radio, so it was really easy to talk with them about our
Ham Radio operation project. If everything goes as it is going up today,
I can tell that we are very close to get permission to realize the first
legal Ham Radio operation from D.P.R.K. So let's keep our fingers crossed
because we are also in front of a real and historical possibility to an
opening to future Ham Radio operations from this nice country.

The equipment, ~2,400 pounds (1,090kg) on 4 pallets is on the way to New
Zealand, scheduled delivery August 26th, and the Advance Team will soon
begin their journey to Auckland. They?ll meet the boat at Bayswater Marina
and transfer equipment from storage to the boat. On September 16th the boat
sails for Noumea, New Caledonia, to collect the team and will sail for
Chesterfield Island on September 28th. We expect to land on Oct. 1st and
begin setting up the operating camps. On August 5th the skipper reviewed
and approved our dates and landing plan.
New Corporate Sponsor: We thank Bob Hardie W5UQ of Expert Linears America,
LLC (http://expertlinears.com/) for his support of TX3X. Bob is providing
the new, lightweight, SPE EXPERT 1K-FA solid state amplifier. Meeting
Bob and his wife Elva at Friedrichshafen, Germany, they immediately
offered their support to TX3X.
The Boat: Evohe recently underwent inspection and overhaul. A new
generator was installed as well as other systems updated. She?s back
in the water with her Class B transponder transmitting position reports,
currently in Dunedin, New Zealand. You can follow our journey at TX3X.com.
Operating Principles: As previously announced, we?ll be operating 10-160,
SSB, CW and RTTY. We?ll have 6 meter capability, conditions permitting we
will try to allocate time to that band. Martti Laine/OH2BH and Wayne
Mills/N7NG are providing advice on operating plans and recommending
techniques for pile-up management.
North Cook and Tuvalu DX-peditions: E51MQT & E51MKW ? North Cooks DX-
pedition and the T2GC - Tuvalu DX-pedition will be operating during
TX3X. Please see our operating frequencies listed at TX3X.com to minimize
confusion, make sure you know which team you are calling. Listen to the
operator?s instructions.

guidelines posted at TX3X.com and getting in the log should be relatively
easy.

access to the Internet. Please direct your questions, concerns or
comments to the pilot for your geography listed on TX3X.com. Chief
Pilot, Ralph, W4HK, will consolidate, summarize and forward your comments
to the team. Look to the DX bulletins for regular updates from the island.

3W, VIETNAM (3W3MD - Press Release #3) [edited]. Great news from the
Mediterraneo International Dx Club Team. -- During their already announced
Da Nang City, Vietnam, DXpedition with the callsign: 3W3MD between October
31st and November 10th, the international team leading by Antonio, IZ8CCW,
and Gabriele, I2VGW, will also be able to be active for some days from
Cham Island IOTA AS-162 (claimed only by 17% of IOTA chasers).
As a matter of fact, some operators will leave the main land for 3-4
days, and with two stations and a couple of antennas they will try to
give the reference to many IOTA chasers as possible.
Of course the rest of the team (19 skilled DX operators coming from
9 countries) will be on air from the beach of Da Nang with five stations
24 hours around the clock. According to the evaluations that they have
done, they are confident to give to a lot of DXers the possibility to
work this country on the Low Bands, WARC and especially on the Digital
modes.
Quite a bit of equipment and antennas are ready for the new adventure
by the MDXC team. All the licenses are in hands of Ant and Gab and all
have been already arranged (boat, generators, contacts....etc) for the
transfer on Cham Island (AS-162). Save the dates and keep ears open
because the callsign for the IOTA operations by the team will be 3W3MD/P.
Any donation will be very very appreciated by the team.....
For any further news and updates please visit the official Web site
for this new great adventure at: http://www.mdxc.org/3w3md

KH5, PALMYRA (Press Release #3). Lou (N2TU) and Craig (K9CT) previously
announced a DXpedition to Palmyra Atoll at the International DX Convention
in Visalia, California.
Palmyra (KH5) ranks #9 on the Most Wanted List and #2 in Europe.
The Pacific Islands DXpedition Group has been awarded permission to
activate Cooper Island in the Palmyra Atoll, 11-26 January 2016.
A callsign will be announced through the normal DX media channels before
the operation begins.
One key to the success of activation of a rare entity is a team of pilot
stations. These stations gather regional feedback, identify propagation
trends and inform the on-island Team of operational issues.
These pilots are well known to the DX community and have either been on
DXpeditions or have been pilots on previous high visibility DXpeditions.
* Chief Pilot and Western USA- Rich, KE1B
* Eastern USA/ Caribbean- Don, AA1V
* Europe- Col, MM0NDX
* Africa/ South America- Andre, V51B
* Asia/ Pacific, Hiroo, JA1WSX
Our website, has been updated with photographs
and background information of our outstanding Pilot Team.
Additionally, a Palmyra 2016 QSL route has been established. Direct QSLs,
with appropriate return postage and envelope, should be sent to:
Palmyra DXpedition
PO Box 73
Elmwood, IL 61529
We urge the DX community to use OQRS via Clublog. This will greatly
expedite your QSL!
There is a large payment due shortly and additional funds are needed
to meet this obligation. Your donations are required to support the effort
to activate this rare entity.

SANTA CLAUS IN CHAPTER 11 (For immediate release from Lapland, Northern
Finland). From the Desk of Radio Arcala, OH8X, dated August 25th:
SANTA CLAUS IN CHAPTER 11 ? THIS CAN ONLY HAPPEN IN FINLAND, THE LAND
OF SANTA CLAUS -- Who said that the children?s world is different from
ours? Every Christmas, Santa from the Far North of Finland not only
delights young ones all over the world but travels to each and every
home in the U.S. to deliver his gifts to the kids who Deserve. Similarly,
Santa Radio, OF9X together with the elves of Radio Arcala propagate the
Christmas spirit across the North Pole on 14226 kHz. Thousands of radio
amateurs treasure this gesture, and in three consecutive years have
brought their children to talk to Santa via Amateur Radio. For details,
see .
The Santa Claus Village on the Arctic Circle is a major attraction for
visiting children. Visitors and guests provide employment for 11,000
people directly or indirectly during this annual peak of winter tourism.
Santa is probably the best-known person coming from Finland.
Now the Village operator is facing bankruptcy and Santa?s existence is
in jeopardy. This coming Thursday, the case is brought before the Arctic
Court when the creditors will be considering the future of Santa.
The City of Rovaniemi has hired two acting Santas to entertain visiting
children. They call it a "two for one approach". Furthermore, it is now
proven beyond doubt that Santa is not financially gifted and he will in
the future concentrate only on his familiar toys.
Determined not to let Santa suffer, Radio Arcala, OH8X and Pusula Radio
Club, OH9W have come to the rescue to make sure that, at Christmas, Santa
will once again to bring cheer to the children of the world. Santa's sleigh
is well oiled with anti-freeze lubricant, and this coming Christmas will
be no different from those of previous years. OF9X will be active.
Wait for more striking news from the land of tranquility, aurora borealis
and less deliberate QRM.
