activate for the first time Mapia Island as YB9Y. However,
it was reported [edited], "Due to weather reasons, which the

is now a delayed departure from the original schedule. It can
be confirmed that the team departure will be on the evening

OC-295. (Small Correction to OPDX.1132). John, 9M6XRO, tells OPDX:
"Sebatik Island is actually NOT a new IOTA activation. We
members of the Borneo Amateur Radio Club first activated it
           as 9M4SEB in 2006. In 2010, 9M6DXX/P and 9M6XRO/P also operated
from Sebatik. The IOTA website shows 22% of claimants with
OC-295 from these operations. The confusion arises because
Sebatik Island is a split sovereignty island - the northern
part belongs to Malaysia and the south to Indonesia. This
will actually be the first operation from the YB side. It
will also be a chance for me to work OC-295 :-)".

J3, GRENADA (Update). Operators Clarence/WX7E, Ron/WJ7R, Mike/W7RIS,
Mike/W7MJJ, Terence/KS5Z and possibly two more operators are planning to
be active as J3A from Grenada (NA-024, WLOTA 0718) during the CQWW DX
SSB Contest (October 26-27th) as a Multi-2 entry. QSL via WA1S, direct,
by the Bureau or LoTW. The team is still waiting for their own personal
callsign to use outside of the contest. Clarence, WX7E, informs OPDX that
they will be arriving on Wednesday evening, October 23rd, which gives
them two days to get everything ready. They will be staying for three
days after the contest to look around the island. The team will work
160-10 meters during the contest. Activity before the contest on Thursday
and Friday will probably be on CW - most likely on 40, 20, 15 and 10
meters (NO 30/17/12m). QSL via LoTW.

J3, GRENADA (Just A Reminder). Mark, N2MD, is returning to Grenada (NA-024,
WLOTA 0718) and will be signing J3/N2MD between October 23-28th. This year
is the 30th anniversary of the U.S. intervention and rescue of U.S. medical
students in Grenada (1983) during which Mark operated as KA2ORK/J37. He
will be joined by Arnal, N9ACC, who will sign J3/N9ACC. Arnal is a U.S.
Navy officer (retired) who was also involved in the 1983 mission. Plans
are to operate both fixed and mobile. Operations will be on 80-6 meters
(SSB) and 2 meter (FM); band conditions and time permitting. Activity
will be holiday style but mostly evening hours. QSL via LoTW only.

PG200, THE NETHERLANDS. Fred, PA0FAW, will be operating as PG200NL, to
celebrate "200 years of The Netherlands", between November 2-29th. His
operations will be mainly on CW, but with some Digital modes and SSB
only upon availability of a good QTH. Fred is an ISWL Member and can
be worked, or heard by ISWL members for the Monitor award. QSL to PA0FAW,
by the Bureau, direct, or via eQSL.cc. SWL reports are very welcome.

PJ6, SABA. Operators Jeff/KB1ZOJ, Bob/K4UEE, John/K5AC, George/N4GRN and
Gregg/W6IZT will be active as PJ6A from Saba Island (NA-145, WFF PAFF-027,
WLOTA 2043) during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 26-27th) as a Multi-
Single entry. QSL PJ6A via N4NX. The team will be there October 23-29th,
and is expected to be active outside of the contest as PJ6/homecall,
possibly on CW and RTTY. Listen for QSL instructions by the operators.

WRTC News #20 - Teams are set for WRTC2014 Competition

WRTC2014 NEWS RELEASE #20
http://www.wrtc2014.org/teams-are-set-for-wrtc2014-competition/

Windham, NH
October 18, 2013

Teams are set for WRTC2014 Competition

WRTC2014, Inc., host of the 2014 World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC),
is proud to announce the fifty five teams that will be invited to compete in
New England next July.

WRTC is a competition among two-operator teams. Team Leaders were selected
for each qualifying region based on 3 years of qualifying scores. The Team
Leaders were given the choice to select any operator as a Team Mate to
complete their team.

The Team application and verification process was managed by Dan Street,
K1TO, himself a 3-time competitor and winner of the event. “We are very
pleased with the quality of operators selected as Team Mates. Although Team
Leaders could select a partner from anywhere in the world, very few opted to
choose outside their own Selection Area.” Street observed, “This will be a
very competitive field. The top four teams from WRTC-2010 in Moscow are
returning to operate together in 2014!”

In making the announcement, WRTC2014 Chairman Doug Grant, K1DG, stated, “We
are pleased to see a mix of veterans of previous WRTC events and first-time
participants among the Team members. The Teams represent over 30 countries
and a wide range of personal backgrounds. While the focus will be on the
competition, we are looking forward to hosting the teams as they share and
spread the international goodwill of the ham radio community in the Team
Village during WRTC Week.”

There are some interesting stories hidden within the team pairings. There
are two teams with family members; K1ZM chose his son KK6ZM and KU1CW chose
his cousin EA5GTQ. There will be a YL (female) team with DL1QQ selecting
DL8DYL as her partner. E77DX declined his Team Leader spot to become the
Team Mate of OE3DIA. This enabled 9A5K to gain entry as a Team Leader.
ES5TV-ES2RR and 5B4WN-5B4AFM will be operating together in their third
consecutive WRTC.

There are four sponsored teams yet to be announced. A Team Sponsor donation
earns the right to select a team. Contact Doug, K1DG, for details about the
Team Sponsor program.

Questions regarding WRTC2014 team selection should be submitted by e-mail to
teamleader at wrtc2014.org.

About WRTC2014

The World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) is held every four years and
consists of 50+ two-person teams of amateur radio operators from around the
world competing in a test of operating skill. Unlike most on-the-air
competitions, all stations are required to use identical antennas from the
same geographic region, eliminating all variables except operating ability.
Previous WRTCs have been held in Seattle (1990), San Francisco (1996),
Slovenia (2000), Finland (2002), Brazil (2006), and Russia (2010). More
information is available at www.wrtc2014.org or contact WRTC Chairman Doug
Grant, K1DG, via e-mail at k1dg at wrtc2014.org.
