Hi,
I have some details about the 3B7SP DXpedition.
The original target of the DXpediton was Agalega Island. The license
was ready to operate with the call sign 3B6SP. On June 4th they took
off aboard the catamaran JOSEPHINE with the heading for Agalega Is.
Two days later they faced serious problems due to a volcano eruption
on Reunion Is.. The yacht was badly damaged at high seas. Sails were
torn apart, the acommodation was flooded with sea water, one of two
engines broke down and electric power blacked out. Their portable
generator was used to run a bilge/salvage pump. Also the navigation
equipment has got damaged. A distress call was sent using the ham
radio equipment.
A Coast Guard plane has located the yacht and passed GPS position to
ships in the area. The fishing vessel COVADIS assisted them to rich
St. Brandon Island. The catamaran was required repairs for about 12
days. There was no way to reach Agalega Island so the the target place
of the DXpedition has been changed suddenly. The team decided to
operate from St.Brandon instead. Soon after they obtained a new
license with a new call-sign: 3B7SP.
Please visit the website (http://3b6.godx.eu/) for updated news and
on-line log.Unfortunately the on-line log might not be completed
during the DXpedition as they have very limited possibilities to
transfer the log data to their server.
