[DX] Dual Receive Radio Recommendations

The Icom 756, 756Pro, 756ProII do not have the needed RS232 commands to
return the current status of the radio as regards Split and/or
Dual-Watch. As such a logging program cannot tell if the radio is
currently running Split and/or Dual Watch. Thus if you use the radio to
record your receive and transmit frequencies it will only be able to
trust the data from VFO1 to be placed in your log. While this is
marginally acceptable, the significant problem comes if you ever post DX
spots. The logging program will not be able to send the spot with the
DX's frequency and the QSX frequency. While it can read VFO2 it might
be on another band and/or mode, there is no way to tell if it is
currently active..

I have an Icom 756ProII which I do like in most respects, but this
missing capability (which the old 781 had by the way) has been a big
disappointment.

Icom has just released the 7800, which looks spectatular (including a
spectacular price of course!) and can you believe it...no capability to
sense if the radio is in split or dual watch at the moment. How could
they make this blunder again?
