I see a few definite probs with this:

1. Some Old Timers are really going to be confused.
For over 80 years, BPL has meant :Brass Pounder's
League. Maybe it should have been "BBPL".

2. If a 60 Hz signal over a few miles of oxidized power
line splices, significant capacitance of improper
insulator tie-wraps, loose and corroded utility pole
pole hardware, loose steel staples over oxidized
copper-clad ground wire (diode effect), and
unbalanced neuteral returns have ever messed up
your DX Day......not to mention leaky insulators and
lightning arrestors (Hmmm - guess I just did !!!)

3. Should tell you that whether at 3 ft, 30 ft, or 90 ft,
Broadband over these same power lines is going
to really mess up your DX Day and your Rag-Chew
Day. Well, for you non-techies: What does a
non-linear circuit do to a signal ? It causes distortion,
and that distortion contains new frequency
     components.
Power lines are definitely non-linear !!! Hmmmm....
that might be "too techie" for today's Extras.

4. Now, which of the 4 following idiots first came with this
     idea (little quiz) ???

     a. Power Utility Companies
     b. CATV Companies
     c. FCC
     d. Internet Service Providers

P.S. Nothing wrong with being thrown off a reflector, as
long as you get thrown off for "telling it like it
really is" :-) :-) Not to mention any names,
but does someone with intitals "Chip" work for one
of the activities in 4. above ????

Just my $ .03 Folks, Larry - K4WLS

I used to throw in $ 0.05, but this is the only reflector I have not got
thrown off of yet !!!!! Course this is my first
response to this discussion. Think I will just hold on to
that $ 0.02 untill I might need it !!!!

If you picked c. in item 4. , have you really been doing your H.W. or were
you in the Navy where the old axiom
of multiple choice questions is pick c. if in doubt ???

Notice, I did not say whether choice c. is correct. Do you
know which choice is correct ??

Ah Yes.......Non Techies: Would you really hook your TV
set aerial connections to 120 VAC ???

Yep...You guessed it, the prop condx are really el stinko.

Bye....
