Is it as unethical as running coax to your neighbors property and using his
SuperStation antennas fed into your shack ?

I will have to go read the article, but assuming it was writen by the usual
column author, W3UR, then he too has a lot of explaining to do as to his
personal eithics as a DXer, let alone being ARRL's choice to lead us as an
expert. I will have to find and upload to the internt the cartoon from the
New Orleans DX Convention a few years ago showing the W3LPL SuperStation
antennas and the coax running from them to the W3UR shack, property line and
mailboxes clearly posted.

This unfortunately just proves one more point that the quest for DXCC status
has burned an attitude into some people that is less than desireable in
society. DXers are now rude, mean, suspicous people ready to do whatever
harm they can to their "friends" in an effort to build on their own egos.
Some of the circles of DXers are just plain vicous. Just ask a few of the AZ
retirees.

I worked everything except for A5 in my first 3 years DXing from NJ. When P5
was listed I was down 2 countries. I had the opportunity to rub elbows
literally with some of the most respected DXers walking around. I also got
to learn of some of the worst dregs of humanity with pumped up chests and
beliefs of self importance. My recent battles from AZ were after learning
proof of some false stories in the DX world. That also brought me to a point
of seperating myself from a few people with what I consider less than
friendly attidues towards other DXers.

This is supposed to be fun and a comfortable hobby. The idea of the heat of
competition has made for some evil people and promotion of personal opinions
at upper levels that are hurtful.

DX nets are great for a newcomer to learn on and keep the rest of the band
free for the experienced operators. They do serve a purpose. I learned the
concept of Long path not from any local DX buddy but by being on a net 20
years ago and having the person tell me to try beaming the other way. After
that I worked a VK friend every afternoon.

Some people need to get a life and if that is what ARRL leadership allows to
be printed then they need a new columnist or they can close the doors.
