Charles you are absolutely correct. No one forced them to go. Please
remember however, no one forces you to work them.
As a casual, solo DXpeditioner, I have handed out approximately 25,000
contacts from a variety of vary non-rare Caribbean locations over the past 5
or 6 years. I WAS on vacation and I DID have the time of my life. Please
rest assured however, that I am far from rich and that even the simplest
expedition requires a lot of resources from licensing and customs issues to
equipment and QSL's (Please, no E-QSL lecture). Your comment on perceived
wealth of DXpeditioners is a gross exaggeration of reality. Some are indeed
well off as with any cross section of society but, the bulk of us are just
trying to make a living like anyone else.

Hello Paul and DX List,
If we are not to expect DXpeditions to do it "our way" then perhaps
(according to your logic) we are justified in always ignoring their
pleas for $$$ both before -and- after the expedition. No one forced
them to go and "wade thru penguin crap" and most of them no doubt were
having the time of their life and basically were "on vacation". Little
more than tourists with Ham radios!
Now before you or someone else posts about the DXpedition Hams that
have "given their lives" for the hobby..remember no one forced them to
go either. They were all volunteers and were eager to go...sorry there
is no pity here...
