Jim,
  Writelog is very much a contest logger. You could use it for  general stuff
I suppose, but it is certainly designed to be a contets program.
I use, Writelog, NA, N1MM Logger, LOG-EQF, and Kwiklog.
I prefer NA for contesting, but Writelog and N1MM Logger are easier
for voice recording. Log-Eqf is my general everyday log, which will do anything
you want to do...import, export, print labels, track DXCC WAS WAZ WPX WAC etc.
You can use it to key the rig, although a bit cumbersome.I've been using it 
a long time and I like it]
just fine. The Kwiklog is strictly for county hunting and that is all it's 
really
meant to be. I do use MMTTY for rtty stuff and PSK can be accomplished 
various different ways.
My 4 cents worth...I'm old and my advice counts double!
