>From someone that didn't work them, and actually tried (yes, Virginia, KU9C does have a rig)...Kan and company did a superb job in providing us all a new one. Not to mention all the up-front work that Kan et al did in having the energy and perserverence to find this new one in the first place (visit Kan's web site for the detailed analysis).

Now that you've got them in the log, consider sending a donation with the QSL. When you add up all that you have in your equipment at the QTH from which you worked VP6DI, remember that a bunch of bucks went into getting the folks there, renting a vessel, logistics, food, etc.

Don't assume this was completely sponsored by manufacturers and various DX organizations. I'm sure they helped, but if it is typical of most operations, there is still a gap between what they have and what they spent. Perhaps one of the team members can detail their budget and any shortfall, but it's safe to assume that there is one.

Remember, you can have a solid 2KW and the best operating station in your call area, but if there is no budget to get to the new one....you'll spend a lot of time listening to dead air and working 'garden variety' dx. Even though the pileups were big, and sometimes unruly, remember the thrill when your call came back from the station....and then, recall what it took of the team to make that moment a reality

Food for thought..
