[DX] eQSL cards - NOW ACCEPTED - for DXCC

Yes, this is getting out of hand. And yes, there is misinformation floating
around.

So now we get the self-serving misinterpretation from eQSL? Enough already!

"ARRL never before accepted any eQSL card under any conditions at any time
for" etc.: What has changed is NOT the ARRL policy, but the fact that
eQSL.cc is now offering a printed card, for a fee, something that THEY have
never done before. It was "never the case before" because the printed card
was never offered before.

However, and I refer you again to the comments of N7NG that were forwarded
here last night, this is NOT unconditional, but dependent on several
factors, including the fact that the DX station must indicate in some manner
that eQSL is authorized to act as their QSL manager. That is a very
important factor!

It should also be noted that this has come about because of an issue totally
unrelated to eQSL (sorry, conspiracy theorists) involving an alleged ham of
many callsigns, some allegedly obtained fraudulently, a "ham" and "QSL
manager" based in France, who has claimed to be the manager for many
stations over the years (without their knowledge or permission), issued
cards on their behalf, and pocketed a lot of money.

By the way, since this "new policy" was only announced yesterday (Friday),
and it takes some time to physically print and mail a card, and then submit
it to ARRL... in fact, the ARRL hasn't actually "accepted" any eQSL
generated cards. They've only indicated that IF eQSL is authorized to act
as a QSL Manager, and IF eQSL sends a printed card in the mail -- ie, a
traditional, not an electronic, QSL -- they'll accept it just like they
would any other card that meets the usual criteria.

So why are we trying to spin a mountain out of a molehill? Who are you
guys trying to convince, us or yourselves?

Hello Ron and list members,
This is getting out-of-hand and there is some misinformation floating
around .....
ARRL never before accepted any eQSL card under any conditions at any
time for anybody ever...that is until 08-Feb-2002. That is what has
changed. Now they accept eQSL confirmations if one uses the eQSL "print
a card" service. That was - never - the case before.
Finally here is the text from the eQSL site ..... I hope this is
informative for some of the guys on here...
---------
eQSLs are now accepted for DXCC!
On Friday, February 8, 2002, Bill Moore, NC1L, DXCC Manager for ARRL,
conveyed to us that if our users receive eQSLs and verify that them
against their log (I.e. don't reject them) and use our new Card Mailing
System to have the cards mailed to them using regular mail, those mailed
cards would be accepted for DXCC, because that mechanism is in essence
identical to that of a regular QSL Manager
------------

If that is not plain enough then I do not feel I can do anything further
to clear it up....
