ah yes. one thing that I failed to take into account in my original
response is that VK9X is possible to get to without special arrangements, in
fact PA3GIO was there recently (May 2002). this has a lot to do with
relative rarity of a place. hard to get to AND/OR hard to get permission to
operate from = UNUSUAL to RARE. 7O is a good example.
CY0 is a good point. not too hard to get to and not hard to get permission
to operate from but not often visited. palm trees, permanent airstrips,
and sandy beaches win out over cold, wind, and fog...
