[Dx-qsl] Reference EA3JE

Hmmmmmm....    I have given up QSLing too Ernie - does that make me 
ignorant and disrespectful?    I have tried to make it clear on my 
QRZ.COM page that I am not really iunterested in exchanging QSL cards 
anymore.   I must have several thousand from Japan, Europe and the USA I 
no longer store them, I just compost them.   For me,  LOTW is the way to 
go if you collect the main amateur radio awards.   But, wait,  nobody is 
compelled to collect awards.... its a personal choice.   100 yers ago, 
to make a QSO was challenging and it was deemed worthy of a written 
confirmation.   Nowadays, most of the big DXer stations are running at 
least 1 kW whether they admit it or not and some form of gain antenna. 
Where is the challenge for me to work - say - Germany,  yet most of the 
German stations seem to QSL each and every contact.   Most go directly 
into the bin.   I work the same stations every major contest and can 
often get 5 QSOs per band mode from the same station every contest - A 
total waste of time, effort and money.

Whats wrong with a guy making it known up front that he is not 
interested in QSLing - it doesnt (in my books) make him a lesser ham. 
What about all these new fangled modes, where people have written 
algorythms to allow FT8 to run till dommsday making "QSOs" with other 
people's computers?    You want a card for each of these data exchanges 
also..... ??

People (like me) simply get fed up with QSL cards and I am no longer 
interested.   Hence, I changed my QRZ.COM page,  but they still come in, 
in droves from the buro.   Its simply another click on a computer button 
to send a QSL card, and people send them out whether anybody wants them 
or not.

If somebody is desperate for a card I will oblige, but that will be the 
exception rather than the rule.   I manage QSL cards for about 70 
callsigns and am appalled at the waste of money involved in the creation 
of beautiful cards for them to be immediately confined to the waste 
paper basket.   Save the planet.....
