[Dx-qsl] ZS64RI - Robben Island 1996.

I noted on this reflector W4FOA 'collecting' a QSL for an old (2003) QSO with AS-064 - and it immediately made me pine for a QSO I had with ZS64RI back on 27 January, 1996, at 0607 UTC, on 20 metres SSB. At the time a QSL route was given as KA1JC.

Despite quite vigorous efforts, no QSL was ever attained and I have never worked Robben Island, or AF-064 for that matter, since. With the success of W4FOA, via one of the best QSLers in amateur radio, I thought I would give it one last try.

First, was the station call, as noted, a valid operation? Did the DXpedition ever take place? If so, were QSLs ever available and if so, from where/who?

Any information would be most welcome here, let me tell you.
