Ron,

You are right in some perspectives.
I am lucky enough that my wife found the correct airmail envelope with the sealing tapes.

Could you please advise how to inform the right way to DIRECT QSLing to the JA hams?
I would like to try to do it.

I get proper airmail envelopes all the time. I think its easier not to 
supply them so some do not.
I get proper sealing envelopes from some of the poorest countries in the 
world so I think Japans excuses are BS
