Hello Nand,
The answer is simple - send back via the bureau with a note on the card
saying why.
I am sure they probably got your address from QRZ, which clearly states your
QSL habits, so they should know.
In GU, I often get such cards, and for a while, I assumed these people had
forgotten to add the postage, and so I returned them at my expense.
However, after a while, I noticed that other calls, living close by those
that had received a "free" card were also sending without postage!
I guess word got around that I was an easy one to get cards from, so folk
were taking advantage.
As soon as I realised that, I started to return cards via the bureau.
Whether you are working now or not is beside the point. Nobody really knows
our own personal situation, and whether we can afford such things or not. If
you are expecting a card back via direct, then the least anyone can do is to
pay the postage.
I did have one chap send me a direct card with no postage, along with a note
saying how he couldn't afford such things, and asking for my assistance in
sending his card back direct, as he didn't use the bureau, yet his QSL
clearly showed a multi-rig set-up, with numerous antennas, and two big
pick-ups in the driveway! That one went through the bureau system too,
despite the statement from him.
One last thing Nand......
You might want to consider uploading your log to Clublog (www.clublog.org)
and once you have your log there, you can then add an OQRS facility, which
may make things easier if folk do not use LoTW.
I personally have not yet opted for OQRS on my page, but it is something I
may consider.
The whole Clublog facility is free, and a very useful tool.
You can also set up a log-search facility for your own website, or even QRZ.
Check out my call on QRZ, or my homepage (www.gu0sup.com) for examples of
this.
