The small amount that I have isnt going to make or break. It just is a shame that they gave up on them within the postal service. I do a lot of dxing and they were nice to use instead of GS. Every dxer doesnt use LOTW either. Its our loss.

On the other hand I took a pile of IRC's down to our local post office and,
surprise, surprise the clerk
knew all about them, what buttons to push on his terminal, and I was out in
less than a minute.

This is clearly a ""Your mileage my vary" situation and is based on the
skills and experience of
the person at the counter. I have also spent 30 minutes with three people
including the
supervisor on duty trying to figure it out -- with their tech support on the
phone.

For the clerks that don't know about them what is really needed is for
someone out there
to produce a "How to redeem IRC's in X easy steps" that we can give to the
counter people.
It is not the on-line IMM 381.2 or whatever documentation they need -- what
they need is
guidance on what buttons and screens to use on their terminal systems to
process the
redemption. If we had that and could give it to them -- all would be well.

I need to make one last trip to the post office before year end to redeem my
last 2013's.
Sure hope if goes like the last time. I need to catch the same guy on duty.

Well after trying 7 different post offices in the area I still have not been
able to redeem my IRC's. I keep getting the same run around that the Great
Lakes District Office in Chicago is telling

each post office that the IRC are no good and they quit redeeming them 5
years ago. Tried showing them the IMM 381.2 documentation but they all just
blow it off saying its obsolete.

I contacted someone in Washington a couple of weeks ago who said they would
contact Chicago and square things away. But as I expected nothing came of
it. Most of the post offices I have tried have had terrible

attitudes about trying to help. I can understand why the USPS is losing
money and having trouble staying solvent.

Any recommendation and what I can try next? Looks like I may be eating a
couple hundred IRC's
