The pirate side is another variable.  I have worked so many of them and
received NIL because of it I missed some good band country QSOs for the
DXCC Challenge.  I heard them make QSOs.  Worse than the jammers.  When in
doubt work the good station again. Pay attention to speed, freq tone, style
and hesitations, This has helped me lately so I do not work yet another
pirate.

Another thing I noticed is that the lids that have a remote tuners has
issues.  They take a long time to tune it seams, just like the old days
tuning an amplifier and your home brew tuner, things seam to get faster,
but technology has now made tuning some what slower.  Sure glad solid-state
amps need no tuning.
