[Dx-qsl] LOTW vs paper QSL's

But, then the eQSL people would start screaming... again... that Logbook is
merely a copy of their system, and an attempt by the League to usurp them or
put them out of business, etc. and so forth, ad infinitum ad nauseum.
I understand Ken's original point. There are, sad to say, quite a few who
choose not to issue QSL cards for whatever reasons... not many, but enough.
Some of these people are, or will, use LotW and/or eQSL as a substitute for
issuing a card or other hard paper confirmation.
It is unfortunate that these few induhviduals around the world can or will
use the electronic confirmations as an excuse to not take a few minutes to
exercise what we used to call "the final courtesy of a QSO." They will
gladly take our green stamps, IRC's, or SASE's, mind you... they just won't
reciprocate in kind. They won't even accept the offer from many to act as
their QSL manager and save them the bother... especially if they want the
aforementioned goodies that come in with the cards.
While this should not be the purpose of either electronic system, or any
other like it, the reality is that some will use (or abuse) them in such a
way. All we can do is accept the inevitability, and at least be glad that
there is SOME way that a confirmation can be achieved, even if it isn't the
traditional cardstock that so many of us cherish.

LoTW would be improved if it provided the ability to upload QSL images (like
eQSL does) so we could generate the cards ourselves (without the postage).
