Hi!

Regarding CY0/ vs. /CY0 by the current expedition, for US hams
it is supposed to be callsign/CY0 per the 1952 treaty between
Canada and the USA:

http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/vwapj/1952-7E.PDF/$FILE/1952-7E.PDF

which is also referenced in the RBR-4 document from Industry Canada
(the radio regulator up there), "Standards for the Operation of Radio
Stations in the Amateur Radio Service":

http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/vwapj/rbr4e.pdf/$FILE/rbr4e.pdf

Foreign hams are allowed to write the Canadian licensing exams
in front of a volunteer examiner (only one is required, compared
to 3 in the US) and get a normal callsign based on the station
address listed on the application. I wrote my exams in Vancouver
in 2002, use a station address in a Vancouver suburb for my call,
but have had a separate mailing address (my PO box in Arizona) on
file with Industry Canada. The station address is what gets
published in the callsign database at http://www.callsign.ca/ and
QRZ.com also periodically downloads this information for its database.

More information on Canadian amateur licensing is available from
Industry Canada at:

I prefer the indicator before the home call, as is the case in
most of the world now, and many expect that even if you are
identifying in some other way. But, of course, log what you hear,
especially for use with systems like LOTW.
