BTW, I still don't understand why Kosovo cannot be added to the list as a
"special entity". It is an independent and sovereign nation, and we, the
United States, as well as 75 other countries in the world, recognize it as
such. See Department of State, "Background Notes: Kosovo".
[pjd] Because Kosovo hasn't been recognized by the United Nations -- and
will likely never be -- nor has the ITU assigned ita prefix block. It also
doesn't fit the definitions under either the UN list of non-self-governing
territories nor the US Department of State's list of dependencies and Areas
of Special Sovereignty.
Yes, the US recognizes it, but the UN does not, and it's the UN's list that
counts. Since both Russia and China are deeply opposed to Kosovo's existence
(they both side with Serbia politically), and they hold permanent vetoes of
UN resolutions, don't look for Kosovo to count for DXCC anytime soon.
