It is probably a waste of time, telling those guys. I heard some B4s being
sent an hour after the operation started. Their web page also has a number
of other instructions, which these guys refuse to follow: such as "do not
request QSYs or change of Modes", they say right in their news that they do
not have internet operational (meaning during on-air operation positions),
etc. They also talk about split operation, yet there are some they seem to
not know what split even is. I have referred several of them to my qrz.com
page, but doubt they would understand it either. We all make mistakes, in
ocassionally calling on their freq, espcially if like me they do not have
two receivers built into their gear, and are flopping back and forth looking
for a freq to call on. But to call and call and call, ignoring the cops and
normal DX operation, well what can one say?
Some will agree and many wont, but this thing of telling us, on their web
page, how many mode bands people have, has ruined it for the little guy.
Early on, I checked their stats and found many Europeans with 22 band modes,
and several stateside with 17. One needs only one contact per band, and
within that, just three modes. Not three contacts on each band, with all
three modes, but there you have it. Like mad dogs, we fight. It leaves
many, at the end of the expedition, with NO contacts at all, and others
without one or more modes. Ham radio used to be manned by people who
believed in the golden rule, today it is "Do unto others, before they can do
it unto you". That is a shame.
