Yeah, I bet they think India is the 51st state because that is where all the
phone service centers are located. But some companies (HP, Office Depot)
have call centers in the Philippines. Most Philippine phone center employees
speak better English than their Indian counterparts but I can usually detect
a small accent at times. Then I will start speaking to them in Tagalog (the
Filipino national language) with my terrible accent. The girls will giggle,
the guys will ask where did I learn it.

Geographically challenged USPS staff should not much of a surprise, as  
they come from the general population that includes my classmates in 
high school Spanish class who thought Cuba was in Africa, or the people 
who would always ask me when I used to visit, since I lived in Hong Kong 
so long, if I knew how to speak Japanese.
